History
As the Hardin area grew, several school districts in the Hardin area voted to consolidate in February 1939.[9] The vote was successful, and in March 1839, the first Hardin school was set to be established.[10] By September of the same year, architects and district officials received approval from the Texas Department of Education to build a Hardin High School.[11] 16 acres of land were donated prior. Classes began in 1940. The current iteration of Hardin High School was built in 1997.[12]
In 2005, four people died and several were left in critical condition as a result of a traffic accident who's site was the front of the school.[13] In 2007, the school received a bomb threat. Liberty County sheriff deputies blocked off the whole area.[14]
