'''Chandler E. Woodcock''' is a Republican state Senator from Maine, and the current Republican candidate for Governor_of_Maine. He won a close primary election by 3% on June_13, 2006, against David_F._Emery and Peter_Mills. He faces Democratic incumbent John_E._Baldacci in the November 7th Election.

==Biography==
Woodcock was born in Lewiston,_Maine, and grew up in Farmington, to a father who worked as a manager at the Forster_Manufacturing_Company and served in the Army_Air_Corps in World_War_II, and a mother who served as a United_States_force in WWII.
Woodcock enlisted in the Army after graduating from high school, and served a tour of duty during the Vietnam_War. After returning home, he earned a Bachelor's_degree in Secondary_Education from the University_of_Maine_at_Farmington and went on to teach High_school in the public school system for the next 25 years, teaching at Livermore_Falls_High_School, Mt._Blue_High_School, and Skowhegan_Area_High_School. He also served as basketball coach at each school.
Woodcock previously served for five years on the Board_of_Selectmen in Farmington (one year as Chairman of the Board), before being elected to the state Senate. He is currently (As_of_2006) serving his third term in the Maine Senate. During his first term, he served on the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee and the Legal and Veterans' Affairs Committee; during his second term, he served as Assistant Senate Republican Leader and on the Judiciary Committee.
Woodcock is married to his wife Charlotte (since 1974/5?) with whom he has three daughters and a son.
