Nominator's rationale: The Category:Journalists from Toronto is not enough to have one article to warrant a category as a small category. Some of the categories with occupation will be kept but the activists category category will be split to the regular People from Toronto category per WP:SMALLCAT. The Journalists from Toronto was on CFD around 2015 and resulted as "deleted". Steam5 (talk) 18:01, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Keep If you read the entirety of WP:SMALLCAT, you will note the portion which reads "...this criterion does not preclude all small categories..." and specifically excludes categories that are likely to grow. I created this category just minutes before it was nominated for deletion. Toronto, as a city with millions of residents and multiple internationally-read newspapers, has dozens if not hundreds of journalists identified with it through birth or work. I've added some to the category already but this nomination on its face is out of line. I should note that an editor (likely the one nomination this and the below articles for deletion but from a different IP) tried to empty the categories out of turn and then nominate them for speedy deletion as empty rather than engage in discussion.--User:Namiba 18:59, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Keep as noted above, WP:SMALLCAT does not apply to categories that are likely to grow. There are dozens of articles on Wikipedia about architects identified with Montreal. I've added some to the category already but, clearly, this nomination should be withdrawn.--User:Namiba 18:59, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was:partial merge; I will omit only DeviantART, which makes zero mention of GNOME or GTK. – FayenaticLondon 21:18, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: It's unclear what is "theming" supposed to be here and there's no parent article. Searching doesn't help either. Brandmeistertalk 17:48, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Selectively merge, then delete, not all articles are clearly about GNOME, e.g. Nuvola should be purged. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:11, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keep per above. WP:SMALLCAT does not apply to articles that are likely to grow. Category:Fictional goats
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
Nominator's rationale: Not all of the pages in this category are actually articles on fictional goats. In fact, most are not. But all are articles about goats in fiction (i.e. fictional works which prominently feature goats.) Either we're going to need to significantly cull this category or we're going to need to rename it to what it is actually being used for.
I am also nominating all related categories that are subcats of Category:Fictional vertebrates or Category:Fictional invertebrates as well as those top-level categories themselves and will work on putting together a list and tagging them if nobody else beats me to it. But there are hundreds so it will take a while. Might be easier for a bot to just put together a list of all Fictional X subcats within those two and tag them. Smartyllama (talk) 12:59, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support Alt Rename in this Instance The nomination is correct and the rename will better reflects the actual contents. I don't favor the wholesale renaming of all the fictional animal cats though as a number are viable. (Conversely, a number of these cats need cleanup because of cartoons being added for minor characters.) RevelationDirect (talk) 21:42, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Create alternative categoryCategory:Fiction about goats (similar to Category:Fiction about dolphins etc) (and make clear it's for fiction that is mostly about goats, not fiction that just mentions goats), then recategorize/purge the articles in the current category, then upmerge the existing category if it's very small. Nominator's rationale: Sources refer to the class as "Krabi class". [1][2]Paul_012 (talk) 10:51, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral on Rename/Keep ParentHTMS Krabi was the first ship (which is how you normally name ship classes) but both articles link to the river-class patrol vessel article. We really need a Thai specific main article here to dictate the category name but absent that, either name seems reasonable as long as Category:River-class patrol vessels continues to be the parent category. The first two renames can be done without requiring any changes to templates. It is less common to include "WikiProject" in category names at this level, but there are some others like this, see [3] (there are more than shown there, because some are sorted by the topic rather than the word "WikiProject", e.g. WikiProject Women articles by importance is under "Wo" not "Wi").

Calor Gas sells propane canisters in the United Kingdom at caravan dealerships and hardware stores. Each year, four villages (one each for England, Scotland, Whales and NI) received the Calor Village of the Year award to recognize quality of life. Sutton-in-the-Isle, for instance, is first mentioned in the Domesday Book and doesn't seem defined by the award. I listified the contents here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 02:00, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Listify and delete as we usually do for WP:OCAWARD categories. In my county, Calor took over CPRE's best-kept village competition a decade ago. No doubt this is about the national winner of a competition. It thus falls clearly within an award category. Peterkingiron (talk) 13:18, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
Nominator's rationale: Suggest upmerging into parents. Most demo albums aren't notable and there are less than 330 articles in the demo albums category so it will take a while before genre diffusion is necessary for such albums. If diffusion is warranted per consensus, then Category:Heavy metal demo albums or even Category:Rock demo albums would be more appropriate under a "Demo albums by genre" scheme until there is a further need to diffuse. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 01:27, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As the creator of these categories, I'm not invested here and will happily comply with consensus. May I ask why it matters to have more specific categories, even if very sparsely populated? I'm trying to find guidance here that addresses this. I was presuming that there are, or will be, more black metal demo articles. The sub-category of symphonic black metal demos, yeah, that might never get more populated.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 01:47, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Demo albums is currently down to 258 members, and sub-categorising it by genre does not seem necessary; taking this down to sub-genres such as black metal would result in a plethora of very sparsely populated categories, which would be of little value for navigation between related topics (and that's what categories are for). – FayenaticLondon 10:19, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
