keep as is Part of a pattern. This matches nearly every one of its sibling categories in Category:Port cities of the Mediterranean Sea. Parent category is wrongly named and should be renamed. Examine. Hmains (talk) 03:05, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. Either they are cities or they are towns they are not both. Vegaswikian (talk) 05:23, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing with the word 'and' implies they are both. They are joined at the category level, not at the article level. Hmains (talk) 02:14, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Rename to Category:Ports in Cyprus. Mediterranean is redundant as Cyprus has no other coast; "cities", "towns", etc. is also redundant, and causes an argument over which they are, becuase of the differing usages of "city". Peterkingiron (talk) 23:41, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Though I agree with you on Cyprus and Slovenia, it is worth noting that a port need not be on a coast. Syria's city of Abu Kamal for instance, is an important trading centre on a navigable stretch of the Euphrates. Though it would only tenuously qualify as a "port city", we shouldn't be too quick to write off "Mediterranean" as a useful descriptor. Grutness...wha? 08:42, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

keep as is Part of a pattern. This matches nearly every one of its sibling categories in Category:Port cities of the Mediterranean Sea. Parent category is wrongly named and should be renamed. Rename to Category:Port cities in Slovenia. Mediterranean is redundant indeed. Cities is not redundant as 67 places have been officially designated as cities by Slovenian Parliament and the Government of Slovenia and are listed at [1] (the footer on the page 28). --Eleassarmy talk 10:31, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

keep as is Populate the category instead of spending time renaming. And its parents and all their childen should be renamed to Category:Port cities and towns ... to facilitate their proper population and prevent a set of parallel categories for port cities and port towns. The result of the discussion was:merge. Courcelles 01:49, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale:Merge redundant cats. Not particularly concerned about the direction in which it gets merged, I nominated the former as the one to be purged because it has hardly anything in it. The latter is a subcat of the former. I suppose there's the possibility that "communications" vs. "telecommunications" might start some semantic arguments. Miracle Pen (talk) 21:53, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was:delete. Courcelles 01:48, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale:Delete. Better covered in a list where it can be made clear who has designated the organization as terrorist. Also are these organization designated as terrorist in all of Africa or just in one country? That can also be explained in the list. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:06, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per well-stated rationale. Cgingold (talk) 22:43, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per nom. Additionally, it's unclear whether the category refers to groups based in Africa which have been designated as terrorist (possibly by non-African countries) or groups which have been designated as terrorist by African countries, but may not themselves be based in Africa. The result of the discussion was:merge. — ξxplicit 22:37, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Seems that a few years back somebody moved all the articles which were under the category "History of Palestine" to the category "Palestinian history" without any discussion. A seperation is needed since the "History of Palestine" Category should be preserved distinctly for the history of the Palestine region, allowing for the category "Palestinian history" to include exclusively entries regarding the PNA, its people, background, events, etc. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 13:06, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you're concerned about here, but it's not clear what you are proposing with this CFD. Please clarify. Cgingold (talk) 22:42, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Merge (as nom), leaving the present version as a cat-redirect. I would suggest that the category for the post 1948 (or post 1967) subject should be a sub-cat Category:History of the Palestinian cause or something like that. We certainly need category for the history of the region from the later Middle Ages to 1948 (or 1967). Peterkingiron (talk) 23:23, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
Nominator's rationale: This category has been moved, and had its scope changed, so many times that its original purpose has been lost. Spaceflights don't necessarily have to be "scheduled" to be in the future, and there is no sense in having a category for the cross-section that are, excluding the rest. Since there is a consensus against using it for its original purpose - categorising all future spaceflights - I can see no reason to keep it on. GW… 09:29, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. That was actually part of a batch nomination back in June, which was met with some resistance after the closure. It may be worth naming this back to Category:Future spaceflights. — ξxplicit 22:37, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be happy with either deletion or renaming, but to be honest this category has also been virtually useless due to disrepair since its associated template was deleted. --GW… 21:20, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was:delete, but due to the later arguments, not the nominated rationale. Courcelles 01:45, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, unlike the Madman Films example, where the creator pretty much admits to being here largely to create stuff for Madman Films, in this case there's no question of the creator (recently retired) being a SPA for Media Blasters. He or she was a prolific editor and I can't see any proof that there was any connection at all to Media Blasters, so the nom as "self" promotion is invalid, imo. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 14:18, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. Category is populated with works created by others that Media Blasters just happened to acquire distribution rights for. Not defining in the least. --Blitzer Van Susterwolf (talk) 05:03, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete the parent categories and Upmerge those with articles to appropriate parents, e.g. American Architects and American Catholics. These are trivial intersections. Peterkingiron (talk) 23:26, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
