Hi Jim that has no last name. Awful damned strange the big three U.S. automakers have direct links to their websites. Can you explain that to me please? Preceding unsigned comment added by Martin Blaney (talk • contribs) as of 19:02, September 3, 2012)
- Martin Blaney: Please become familiar with WP guidelines that call for presentation of products as they were made by the original automakers, not any modifications by aftermarket companies. In other words, the manufacturer would be the company, division, or subsidiary responsible for the vehicle's development. It is fine to provide a link to the automaker's official website. However, aftermarket firms are not responsible for the creation of vehicles. Adding external links to such firms is classified as spam.
- "Wikipedia articles about any organization, person, website, or other entity should link to the subject's official site..." (See WP:EL YES)
- Adding external links to an article or user page for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam. "Wikipedia is not a space for the promotion of products, services,..." (See WP:SPAM)

Hello, I'm Jim1138. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Ford Excursion, because to me it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks, Jim1138 (talk) 05:45, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion
Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is Ford Excursion. Thank you. —CZmarlin (talk) 04:27, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. De728631 (talk) 15:12, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
