Enteritis |
---|
Enteritis is inflammation of the small intestine. The most common cause of enteritis is consuming food or liquids tainted with bacteria or viruses. The bacteria cause swelling and inflammation when they settle in the small intestine.[1] Symptoms of enteritis include stomach pain and cramping, fever, loss of appetite, body aches, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and sometimes bloody discharge in poop.[2]
There are four main types of enteritis, infectious enteritis, inflammatory enteritis, radiation enteritis, and ischemic enteritis.[2]
