Cankar Hall (Slovensko: Cankarjev dom) is Slovene cultural and congress center, located in Ljubljana. It is named after Ivan Cankar, the greatest Slovenian writer. The building was designed by Edo Ravnikar, it was built between the years 1977 and 1982. It has 4 halls named after Slovene artists - Galus's hall (Jakob Galus - composer), Linhart's hall (Anton Tomaž Linhart - literate), Kosovel's hall (Srečko Kosovel - poet), Štih's hall (Bojan Štih - writer).
Cankars Hall has a big entrance saloon in which performances are being held (artistic performances, dances, book fairs...). In front of the building lies the statue of Ivan Cankar, built in 1982 by Slavko Tihec.
The ground of Cankars Hall and Republic's square was previously owned by cathlic church (untill the year 1960). When building Cankars Hall they have found the arheology facts from the ancient Emona city.
