There is a dispute over at USA Rugby about whether to add a WP:Hatnote, and if so, what the hatnote should point to. There is an editor (active under different IPs that has made the same revert four times) who is quite insistent that the USA Rugby article must include a hatnote and that the hatnote must point to USA Rugby League. Any views on what the best solution is? Has this come up on other articles, and if so, how has it been handled? Thanks. CUA 27 (talk) 00:02, 27 March 2016 (UTC) |

:Have you thought about creating a disambiguation page (USA Rugby (disambiguation)) with a hat note from all the relevant articles pointing there? Calistemon (talk) 00:07, 27 March 2016 (UTC) |

Help Me!
Hey guys, I'm hoping to help create atricles on red links on list of All Black representatives. I've created one already and I've got another in the making. I felt a bit stink when Paora added the All Black Id and number to my first article which I probably could've done myself. This might be a silly question, but if someone could fill me in on how to add the All Black ID in the infobox?? I have the All Black number just no idea how to add the ID and how it links to the All Black profile. Thanks. Sirpottingmix (talk) 04:04, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- No need to feel stink mate, happy to help when you are doing a great job! The All Black ID is just the number in the URL for the player page on the AB website, e.g. for Mickey Kiernan, the URL for his profile is http://stats.allblacks.com/ASP/Profile.asp?ABID=458 so his All Black ID for the infobox is 458, while his All Black number is 99. National team infoboxes
Apparently there is a new Template:Infobox national rugby team. Were others aware of this? I am seeing it popping up in certain national team articles. Some aspects of it seem like improvements over the prior version, but I'm not thrilled about other aspects of it. CUA 27 (talk) 03:52, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- I don't really see the need for it either. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 17:31, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- To be clear, I like a number of the changes: (1) adds the current/best/worst rankings, which are highly relevant; (2) removes all those distracting flags, and (3) changes "coaches" to "head coach", which is good, because we don't need to lard up the infobox with a whole bunch of assistants. CUA 27 (talk) 20:56, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- But I have the following concerns regarding information of little use added to the infobox that does little more than add clutter: (1) the confederation doesn't need to be there, as confederations don't mean much in rugby. (2) The location of the biggest win/defeat doesn't seem important enough to add to the infobox. (3) We don't need to add the trigramme, that is not key information that most fans are looking for. CUA 27 (talk) 03:01, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- If others agree to your opinion CUA 27, we then need to start making changes to the current template and cleaning up most of the national sides articles. Only thing I would disagree with is your idea of not having the location of the biggest win/defeat. To me personally I think it gives a bit more information to readers just in case they would want to know, just my opinion. Kidsoljah (talk) 00:35, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Kidsoljah — Thanks for the response. I'm glad you are fine with two of the three changes I mentioned. On the third change, however, regarding location of the biggest win/loss, I don't see the value. If Spain defeats some poor team by 100 points, I don't see why the location of the game is so important as to go into the infobox. What does it matter if Spain's 100 point win is home or away? If at home, what does it matter whether the game was in Madrid, or Barcelona, or Sevilla, and do we need to link to those cities? CUA 27 (talk) 03:06, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- CUA 27, you have a valid point, I agree with you on not having the link to the cities, I think that can be left out. But I still personally and strongly think that they should be mentioned because some readers like myself would want to know where some matches are played. I get your side of it but I think it's still an important piece of information of the teams history. Also like I said if other users agree with your side, then we need to start making changes. Thanks, Kidsoljah (talk) 00:10, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Kidsoljah: Ok, I can live with that — i.e., include the place name but no need to link. We'll see if TheMightyPeanut or any others have anything to add to this discussion. If not, we can implement this proposal. CUA 27 (talk) 01:07, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
- Re the point your're discussing – in my opinion, a lot of people are trying to cram too much into the infobox. Personally, I feel the opposition and scoreline would suffice in the infobox. Yet, this should also be mentioned in the article itself, where is can provide much more information, such as the date, the venue, the competition and points scorers. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 07:04, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
- I agree. There is already a fair amount of detail in the infobox, and saving details for the article text is the better approach. I'd prefer we include the score and date, but not location. If people want to know these details, they can read the article. (If these details are not important enough to be included in the article, they shouldn't be in the infobox either, per Help:Infobox. Kidsoljah, what do you think? CUA 27 (talk) 04:13, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Rugby sevens national team names
Is there a reason why the national rugby sevens teams are listed at Foo national rugby union team (sevens) instead of Foo national rugby sevens team? This would match the article at Rugby sevens instead of Rugby union sevens or Rugby union (sevens) etc. I was considering proposing a move but thought I would get some input from the project before hand. Any suggestions? With the olympics this year, it would probably make the articles easier to find for people not familiar with rugby union pages. Mattlore (talk) 19:58, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- I don't know why it's like that, but I would back a proposal to move them. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 20:05, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- The reason why those articles are where they are is because there is also a sevens form of rugby league (see rugby league sevens), and the league lot are an uppity bunch who, in the past, have objected to the assumption that rugby union is the superior code of the game (which it is). I don't know where I personally stand on the issue, but I do agree that there should be a mass discussion. Someone will need to post a discussion notice on the talk page of every single national sevens team article, and it may even be advisable to post on the rugby league WikiProject talk page. No problem having the discussion here. – PeeJay 22:57, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- According to Rugby League World Sevens, that tournament is a) defunct and b) not actually play by countries, but by club sides. There is a Latino Rugby League Sevens tournament, the country links on that page point to the main rugby league national teams, not to sevens teams. So for the time being anyway, there shouldn't be a clash if those naming conventions are used. However, if the proposed naming convention prove to be a non-runner, I would suggest an alternative of Foo national rugby union sevens team. Mattlore's suggested Foo national rugby sevens team would be preferable though. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 23:18, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- Now might be a good time for me to point out to User:PeeJay2K3 that I'm one of the uppity bunch who follow the superior game of rugby league :P That doesn't mean I can't suggest improvements to other parts of the encyclopedia though. Yes, if the conversation here is supportive of my proposal (which it seems to be) then the next step is a big RM request and subsequent discussion. Mattlore (talk) 00:05, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
- All in jest, fella ;) And yes, TMP, Rugby League World Sevens may be a defunct competition, but the sevens form of the game itself is still played. – PeeJay 08:18, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

- I don't think the fact that Rugby League Sevens exists is a problem. The articles for the sports are Rugby league sevens and Rugby sevens. Besides, rugby (union) sevens is by far the more popular code, having a World Series, World Cup, and Olympic tournament. Grande (talk) 19:45, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
I have requested the move at Talk:Great_Britain_national_rugby_union_team_(sevens)#Requested move 20 March 2016. Mattlore (talk) 20:16, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Can anyone confirm whether any of Draft:John Paul Kelly is real? He was allegedly a major player for Exeter Chiefs. In either way, please comment at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:John Paul Kelly. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 00:24, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
Hello, if it may help, here are the reports of Ireland vs Scotland and Wales vs Italy at Women's Six Nations (indicating the scoring sequence, I mean). -- SERGIO aka the Black Cat 12:08, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
PS. m = try, tr = conversion, c.p. = penalty kick.
Discussion - 2016 Super Rugby log
Hi all, just a quick note. There's been a bit of discussion regarding the format of the log for the 2016 Super Rugby season. I opened a discussion here, please feel free to add your thoughts if you're so inclined. Thanks, TheMightyPeanut (talk) 13:25, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
Corrections
Hello ..... Jacques Brunel is no longer the head coach of Italy national team. His contract expired at the end of 2016 Six Nations and for the next season he will be assistant coach at the French side Bordeaux-Bègles. Conor O'Shea has been named today Italy's head coach according to BBC. -- SERGIO aka the Black Cat 14:44, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
