*Occupation of Latvia 1940-1945 and corresponding talk page. Although the article describes well why the legal term occupation is used in (all?) the mainstream Western sources, including encyclopedias, some users still refuse to recognise the neutrality of the title and the article. The consensus has regarded the neutrality OK, given the lack of any reputable sources by the other party; Still, some users continue their 'struggle for neutrality' and add POV tags, resulting in a useless revert war. 14:48, 14 January 2007 (UTC) |

*Talk:George Washington and religion The article states that "Washington sometimes accompanied his wife to Christian church services; however, there is no record of his ever being a communicant (ie taking communion) in any Christian church, and he would regularly leave services before communion—with the other non-communicants". What, if anything, does this tell us about Washington's religious beliefs. Does it show he was either a Deist or non-Christian, or does it indicate that he was a "Low Church" Anglican, or something else? Blueboar 15:39, 12 January 2007 (UTC) Note: Several people have come by to say "adding conclusions would be OR"... no conclusions are indended to be added to the article. This is more for background discussion. Those familiar with Colonial History and Anglican theology of the time are especially encouraged to comment. - If_Americans_Knew - If Americans Knew is an organization that provides information on Israel-Palestine, conducts statistical studies of media coverage and produces videos, a website, and other materials that attempt, in particular, to provide information not being covered in the mainstream US media. The current entry is accurate. However, I expect this to change soon, as individuals who appear to be strongly pro-Israel continue to insert false statements into the entry for the organization and to add external websites that also contain inaccurate and often highly malicious and defamatory material on If Americans Knew (and often on its founder as well, Alison Weir). The Wikipedia community is asked to work on this problem and to ensure that the entry be accurate and complete, and that the external links also be accurate, and relevant. There is much more about this on the If Americans Knew discussion page. I am new to this process and apologize for any mistakes I might make in following procedures - MidEastSpecialist 21:03, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- 2002 Gujarat violence Talk:2002 Gujarat violence#RfC- The dispute revolves on the very description of the events leading to the killings of hundreds/thousands of Muslims during a 2002 riot. Conflict on the article revolves around the inclusion of reports by human rights groups such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International as reliable sources. The majority of the editors have decided that Human Rights Watch and other human rights organizations are 'biased' against the Indians, and therefore the inclusion of their description of the events and its consequences are excluded. The article now reflects the government-issued account of the event. Additionally, the question of whether or not the Indian government's account of the events should be considered the sole accepted account in the introductory paragraphs, particularly considering Amnesty International and The Guardian newspaper both consider the government directly and indirectly complicit in the massacre. - Template:Countries_and_territories_of_East_Asia- Article have been moved around NUMEROUS times between this title and Template:Countries of East Asia. Also, its talk page does not have the same name as the template's name. Can we get a consensus on this? 09:53, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Talk:Paladin#RfC - Dispute about the inclusion of other uses of the title paladin apart from the "twelve peers of Charlemagne", essentially whether palatinus/paladine/paladin are considered different spellings of one word or merely loosely related concepts. Sources are needed. 12:44, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Bath (now Bath, Somerset) Location of the city article, most common usage, also the disambiguation page. Please add comments under Talk:Bath, Somerset#RfC. Has gone through 2 RMs and there is a lot of surrounding discussion. 13:05, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Foreign influence on Chinese martial arts ((Talk:Foreign influence on Chinese martial arts#RFC)) There is a dispute on the NPOV of this article and whether a NPOV tag is appropriate. 20:56, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- Foie gras (RFC on talk page): One user is insistent upon the presence of the "factual accuracy disputed" template, because he disagrees with the quality of sources in the History section of the article. Numerous published sources are provided that meet the requirements for reliable sources. Wikipedia:Accuracy dispute: "The accuracy of an article may be a cause for concern if it contains a lot of unlikely information, without providing references" Should the page include the "factual accuracy disputed" template, or is "NPOV disputed" enough? 04:45, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- First Battle of Fallujah has seen a great deal of conflict rising from the fact that the UK Guardian newspaper reported 83 (unnamed) US casualties for the battle, whereas the lists of casualties from the US Department of Defence and 99% of other sources indicate that 25-30 Americans were killed. One editor believes we should list the total as 83 fatalities, while several other editors have comprismised between the 25-30 numbers to nail down 26 confirmed US fatalities, and one other that the media and DoD disagree upon, so list a total of 27 fatalities. Edit-warring is pointless, so RfC would be appreciated. Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 19:09, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:École Polytechnique massacre#Proposed_Edits and Talk:Marc Lépine#Drop_the_Feminist_Hate_Dogma. A variety of disputes, mostly centering around the assertion that both articles are biased against Lepine. Related disputes include the correct name of the event, and whether or not to include Lepine in the list of victims. I entered as an outsider attempting to mediate, but am now somewhat involved, with an admitted bias towards one side of the argument so more input would be useful. Dina 01:49, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Protos99 (talk · contribs) keeps adding irrelevant lists in Soviet Empire article. Please help in dispute. `'mikkanarxi 20:21, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Mel Mermelstein Should this page be biases towards holocaust deniers?
- Talk:Purushottam Nagesh OakCall to remove all academic criticism of Oak on the grounds that it is "blatant character assassination, and frankly vulgar behavior on the part of 'eminent scholars'". 17:55, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Pontic Greek Genocide#Request for Comment: Article name Should the terms genocide, massacres, deportations or ethnic-cleansing be used in the article title? 02:00, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Iraq_War#.22Part_of_War_on_Terrorism.22 Should the Iraq War be described as "Part of the War on Terrorism" in the infobox, with a reference to a speech given by George W. Bush? 03:32, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- WT:WEAPON#Article names for firearms Extensive debate over naming conventions for firearms could use input from more editors. 14:33, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Controversy over racial characteristics of ancient Egyptians New information has been added to the page. Consensus was that quotations be reduced in said content, and this is being undertaken. Certain users however keep trying to wipe out the new content by unilateral reverts. They do not contribute anything substantive to the discussion. They do not engage the scholarship noted in the article. They do not discuss specific issues in the article. They simply revert, attempting to remove content by that means. They also keep switching user names so as to get around the 3-revert rule. In the space of 15 minutes the page was reverted by Wooty but then a sudden switch to Nebkaneil, clear sock puppet activity and vandalism. 18:08, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Battle of Long Tan There is a dispute with a contributor who claims to be the producer of a forthcoming feature movie about the battle. The article does need work. However, this person has been deleting valid and referenced material from the article because he disagrees with it. We are not at the 3rr stage yet. I have suggested that he instead should rebut the material using his own sources, but he is not happy with this. Any comments or adjudication would be appreciated. 17:58, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Gernika vs. Guernica - Should it be Guernica (city) (actually a town, btw) or Gernika-Lumo (offcial name)? It was moved to the second on consensus and with due care re. links. This was unilaterally reverted single-handedly claiming WP:TITLE.
- Template talk:Groundbreaking submarines - Should Drebbel's submarine be listed with a Dutch flag, an English flag, or both? Drebbel was Dutch and was living in England as a patron of the throne, and built the submarine for the Royal Navy. 14:41, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Should the guideline WP:FRINGE, apply to diciplines such as history, or is it purely science oriented?
- Talk:Altbier -- There is an ongoing content dispute over the use of American sources for European beer styles. One side (American) feels that American references are fine as long as European sources are primary; the other side (European) seems to feel that American references and examples are irrelevant and should not be part of the page at all. 01:04, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Adolf Eichmann#It is a kidnap - Dispute if the capture of a man in a foreign land is to be considered kidnapping.19:08, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Taba Summit#Request for comment - Dispute is about whether some quotes with references belong in 2 sections titled "How close did Taba Summit come to a peace agreement?" and "Who ended the peace negotiations?" 13:25, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Essex#Request_for_comment:_essexclubbing.co.uk - Dispute as to whether a particular link is appropriate to Wikipedia. 13:47, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Joseph_Stalin#Dictator - Argument about whether Stalin should be termed a 'dictator' or not and where in the article. - Merzbow 23:33, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Turkish Van#Request for comment - This page - about a breed of cat - has undergone regular frequent reversion lately by two editors. The reversions have mostly been based on arguments about the status and credibility of historical and archaeological information. 20:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Flag of Poland: discussion about the colour of the flag of Poland, if it is white/red or grey/red, and if it is possible on en.wiki to adopt a solution different from the one chosen by pl.wiki, of if they are authoritative here.16:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Talk:Accession_of_Turkey_to_the_European_Union - Dispute about the borders of the Republic of Cyprus. Article has been continually reverted or re-edited by two editors, which effectively prohibits anyone else from making contributions. 09:42, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Talk:Special Task Force#Request for comment The page is about the Special Task Force of Sri Lanka, which has been accused on occasions of Human Rights abuses. Sometime ago I inserted a paragraph containing an incident of a Human rights violation by the Special Task Force involving the para-military force commandeering a civilian bus to arrive in their camp faster, because it was under attack. However, The Special Task Force members forced civilians to stay on the bus, meaning that many civilians died when the bus came under attack from rebel fighters. Some users challenge what the source says, though I believe that the source is very very clear cut about what happened. --Sharz 06:23, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
