This page is an incomplete list of proposed mergers. Anyone may list any article merger proposal here. This is optional, and does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s} to the articles before listing them here.
In general, this page should be used primarily to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers (particularly those of a controversial nature), or assistance with difficult or complicated mergers. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved.
After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below. If you want to show off your work, use the talk page.
Category mergers should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Categories for deletion.
For a complete list of articles with current merger proposals, please see Category:Articles to be merged.

January 2006
- Ad hoc protocols implementations and Ad hoc protocol list should somehow be merged. They seem to both discuss protocols for MANETs. One page provides URLs and one provides references to scholarly papers. --Unforgettableid | talk to me 20:54, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- The Heartbreakers needs to be merged into Johnny Thunders, mainly because the Heartbreakers were part of Mr. Thunders' history, not the other way around, and most of the Heartbreakers' history (with the exception of their seminal L.A.M.F. album) would be better covered as part of the Thunders article. Cjmarsicano 17:17, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Luis Ponce de León needs to be merged with Fray Luis de León, as the articles both refer to the same person, but the first incorrectly lists a "Ponce" in his name. I'd do it, but am not comfortable with wiki to do so yet Murcielago 15:57, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- European Union member states and List of European Union member states must either be merged with one another (if such an article is to possibly have an independent existence), or receive better names, or be merged into Enlargement of the European Union and History of the European Union respectively. Aris Katsaris 06:36, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Vendetta should be merged with feud as the pages seem to cover the same topic. Palm_Dogg 01:50, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Rockman EXE N1 Battle should be merged with MegaMan Battle Chip Challenge as it is the same game in two different languages.-NeedlerFanPudge
- Andrea Moda should be merged with Andrea Moda Formula, and the first one converted to talk about the shoe firm Andrea Moda (see )--Bobo italy 12:31, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Electron shells and energy levels are essentially the same thing.
- Quahog and Hard clam describe the same species, but contain different information. REwhite 22:35, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Urbanized area into Urban area. Ken 21:46, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Fast-food restaurant into Fast food. Too much topic overlap. I also proposed that the extensive list of FFR chains in the latter article moved into a new List of fast-food restaurants.| Klaw ¡digame! 19:07, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Islamofascism (term) to be merged with Neofascism and religion. This is a proposed move that has some dispute as seen on Talk:Islamofascism (term), any and all input on the merger is desired.--Tznkai 22:38, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Johannes Eremita Cassianus should be merged with John Cassian. Bansp 15:41, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- EroGuro and Ero-guro. Both refer to the same thing. Ketsumaru 11:11, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- Proceso de Reorganización Nacional and Dirty War. Although some might argue the two aren't the exact same thing, the content of the respective articles has, without being literally identical, the same scope and cover pretty much the same period of time. It's probably the best solution to have a chapter DW in PdRN, or vice versa. -- 81.220.59.118 19:40, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Shang-Jie Song into John Sung. The two pages refer to the same person. The latter is more organized and therefore easier to be merged into. -- Luenlin 07:43, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- IUM and OpenView. HP IUM is just a sub-product of openview MNewnham 20:21, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- cracklins and crackling - not sure are they exactly the same thing and, if yes, at which title should they be merged. Nikola 14:30, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- I would merge both in to Pork rind. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 06:00, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Jeffrey MacDonald and Jeffrey R. MacDonald are the same person. Needs to be merged, but which one into the other?--FloNight 00:49, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Either version needs a complete rewrite for POV. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 06:00, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- The rewritten article should end up at Jeffrey MacDonald. --taestell 21:52, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- List of film genres, Fictional film, Film style to be all merged into Cinematic genre somehow - the 2 lists are similar but not exact so make sure to not lose anything, the rest is a confusing mish-mash of contradictions and vagueness. Niz 21:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hotspot (wifi) should be merged into Wireless access point. "Hotspot" is a trademark owned by Deutsche Telekom to refer to this technology. Though it is sometimes used as a genericized trademark to refer to all access points, and sometimes used incorrectly to refer to multi-point wireless networks at large locations such as universities; the majority of the information in this article is redundant. --DDG 21:09, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hairshirt should be merged into Cilice, as the latter has more information and images.Benami 10:05, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
- Pro-life into Anti-abortion, then turn pro-life into a redirect to anti-abortion. The latter is more accurate and NPOV. I am also requesting that Pro-choice be moved to Pro-abortion. --Cyde Weys votetalk 19:43, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
December 2005
- Shuttle-PB, Shuttle-PB Mk2, and Shuttle-PB Mk3 are almost identical. there are only about 3 lines different per page. --GW_Simulations 12:29, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- Books of the Apocrypha has much of the same information as Apocrypha. Since Apocrypha is a large page, it might be good to keep both pages with some redistribution of content. This is far beyond my newbie skills, and potentially controversial to judge by the length of the talk page. Help? Saint Midge 06:59, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- Federal Bureau of Prisons and List of U.S. federal prisons should be merged since all of the prisons on the second page fall under Federal Bureau of Prisons control. --TommyBoy 05:27, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- Atheism should be merged with nontheism due to the fact that both terms mean to deny or not connotate with the existence of God. PatrickA 04:44, 31 December 2005 (UTC).
- I oppose that merger. Atheism and nontheism are different religious concepts, as explained in the nontheism article. Atheism refers to a "religion" that denies the existence of a deity, nontheism refers to religions that don't have a deities in the first place, where the emphasis is on moral behaviour. Many of the Asian religions are nontheistic, but they are definitely not atheistic. Religion is simply not part of the doctrine of those religions. Aecis Mr. Mojo risin' 00:40, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- Shouldn't all the lawsuits on the Lowell page be on the San Francisco Unified School District page instead, since they're NAACP v. San Francisco Unified School District, Ho v. San Francisco Unified School District, and the Consent Decree applies to ALL schools in the San Francisco Unified School District, not just Lowell? --69.106.248.138 18:09, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Brian Chase (Wikipedia hoaxer) should be merged with John Seigenthaler Sr. Wikipedia biography controversy. Brian Chase is only notable for his involvement with said controversy. Kaldari 16:58, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hail to the Victors should be merged with The Victors or removed. The correct title of the fight song of the University of Michigan is "The Victors". Whalepelt 4:08, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'd like to merge Assault Droid, Rebel Marksman, and Clone Sharpshooter into List of Units in Star Wars Battlefront II. Some specific character types (like Stormtroopers or Wookiees) have enough info about them to deserve entire articles. These characters don't. They are only specifically named in the Battlefront games (and possibly other non-canon sources like role playing games). They are sufficiently discussed on the Battlefront pages and the list above. But I know SW fans can be touchy, so I wanted to put it up here for discussion. Kafziel 16:58, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- could somebody please merge games club member Emil Christensen into article about his club Ninjas in Pyjamas, and similarly for Andreas Thorstensson into SK Gaming. thanks. Zzzzz 13:01, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- No reason given for merging these professional gamers into the articles on their organizations. --Habap 15:17, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- Filioque External Links: an Online Bibliography should me merged with Filioque References -- I see no point for two different articles with references, one with links, the other with external sources... agnus 20:19, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- Talk:VIA_C4 → VIA_C3 The C4 was never released - it was a planned clone of the P4 that got cancelled, because the high clock speed methodology became discredited, due to thermal issues. VIA found small, cheap, low power, a more marketable proposition. Merge to VIA_C3 which already covers this matter. Timharwoodx 10:43, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- Zambia national football team and Chipolopolo have been tagged for merging a few days ago. I believe Chipolopolo should be merged into Zambia national football team, as the latter follows the naming guidelines and conventions. Aecis Mr. Mojo risin' 00:36, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- Chinese New Years greetings was merged to a section of Chinese New Year and a redirect left at the former (by me). Someone reverted the redirect and then admin-protected it leaving duplicated content. SchmuckyTheCat 23:35, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- National Wilderness Preservation System should be merged into U.S. Wilderness Area. Although I prefer the title of the former, the latter is the older and more complete article to which many others are already linked. Cuppysfriend 00:05, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- Corporal punishment and Physical punishment have almost identical content. - Mike Rosoft 15:13, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- Candle in the Wind and Candle in the Wind 1997. The last page contains almost all information of the first one, but is much more comprehensive. I think it can be joined into one page, because the 1973 song is more appropriate as a part of the article given the trendemenous importance of the 1997 song. KittenKlub 20:19, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- Branksome Hall and Branksome Hall School --Colonel Cow 03:17, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- History of the Papacy and History of the Vatican City. I created the former (which needs developing) before coming to the latter - the latter could be merged with it as the last section, with a redirect. - Jackiespeel 16:09, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- UNIX architecture stub merged into UNIX as a section. Aubray1741 15:24, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
November 2005
- Imre Thököly and Imre, Prince Thokoly Fransvannes 19:52, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- Mavial Magadan Airlines and Magadan Airlines are about the same airline. Aecis praatpaal 14:29, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
- Van Nest and Van Nest, Bronx, New York should be merged. -- Balster neb 04:45, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
- Eberhard of Franconia and Eberhard III : same historical man. Odejea 13:07, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
- List of New York City television studios seems like it needs to be merged or disambiguated (if that's the right word) with and/or from List of New York City Television and Film studios. I'm a newbie to WP, so please see the comments I gave on both pages. I'm not sure if they should be merged or if two new and completely different articles should be created. Telestylo 08:59, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
- WP:UR and Wikipedia:Bad spam and other helpdesk-l related nonsense are essentially duplicating purposes. One should be merged into the other - I would suggest removing the BJAODN title as to me it seems that these people writing these things seem genuinely confused, not a "Bad Joke"!? --{{subst:user|4836.03}} 13:26, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
- Freeform (radio format) & Freeform radio are basically covering the same thing. I am unaware of any naming conventions, though. If a merge should be performed, Special:Whatlinkshere/Freeform_radio and Special:Whatlinkshere/Freeform_(radio_format) should be checked and internal links be corrected. --zerofoks 10:57, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
- Pekiti Tirsia and Pekiti Tirsia Kali. --howcheng [ t • c • w • e ] 17:41, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- Busy waiting and Spinlock. I don't see the difference. --Abdull 17:46, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
- You're right, they're the same concept. But the Busy waiting aritcle approaches in user space, and from an efficiency point-of-view, whereas Spinlock approches it in kernel space, and as a concurrency control technique. Achieving a balance between these in a single article will be a challenge. Jamie 09:06, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- Medical protocol should perhaps be merged (or just redirected) to Guideline (medical) which should perhaps be renamed Medical guideline (or maybe Guideline (medicine)). I don't know enough about the topic myself. Nurg 06:13, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
- The section L. Frank Baum#Was the Wizard of Oz a political allegory? is about the book, not the author, so should probably be merged into The Wonderful Wizard of Oz#Scholars' perspective on WOZ as political allegory. [[User:JonMoore|— —JonMoore 20:24, 29 May 2006 (UTC)]] 04:52, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- Reactive arthritis and Reiter's syndrome should be merged to Reactive arthritis: same disease, Reiter should not be mentionned anylonger because of his nazi activity in Buchenwald -- Cdang|write me 16:07, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
- Status of a Shia Imam - I find this article unnecessary, since articles Imam and Shia Imam already exist. Useful contents (if any) should be merged there. - Mike Rosoft 15:18, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
October 2005
- I don't think the article Lena Soderberg is important without mentioning her role in Lenna, so proposing the merge. --Puzzlet Chung 15:54, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
- Special Romanian Unicode characters should be merged into Romanian alphabet. The encoding problems of the two characters, namely S-comma and T-comma, have already mentioned in the Romanian alphabet article. Besides, S-comma and T-comma articles are here to provide such information. --Hello World! 15:42, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
- European Green Party and European Federation of Green Parties. - Andre Engels 10:06, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
September 2005
- Foreign relations between Japan and China & Sino-Japanese relations: I've unmerged these two because the previous merge was a simple copy-&-paste job, with no consideration of the content (How can the "Concluding Remarks" be in the middle and above the Table of Contents ?). Need someone familiar with the topic to incorporate the materials into one article that flows properly. -- PFHLai 14:29, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- Random sample and simple random sample talk about roughly the same thing. Flammifer 10:11, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
- Les Claypool's Frog Brigade article exists with quite a bit of info, but should be merged into Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade which is the correct title of the band. Static3d 00:15, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- Random number and random sequence should be merged into randomness (or at least, most of the discussion on random number should be in randomness; a bit on the specific meaning of "random number" in statistics could be left). Flammifer 07:48, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
August 2005
- Brainwashing and Mind control are often used interchangeably - also the articles have material in common. --Irmgard 18:16, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
- Universal Sales Co., Ltd merging into Aruze, see Aruze's corporate history PDF document. RadioActive 12:09, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
- Sunderland W.F.C. should be merged into Sunderland A.F.C.. Aecis 17:43, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Boast of Cassiopeia shares the mythology, constellations, trivia, and even interwiki links with Andromeda (mythology). --Puzzlet Chung 02:36, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- London Trams and Trams in London could be merged (note comments in talk pages) as much overlap/duplication. If appropriate could divide into periods covering (Trams to closure) and (Trams the new generation - ie Croydon tramlink and other modern developments) appropriatedly cross linked. Jackiespeel 18:03, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- Najran now covers the same topic as Najran Province. The information about the province should (if still necessary) be moved to Najran Province. Najran should be about the city of Najran. Aecis 23:26, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
July 2005
- TeamBath into University of Bath. Most of the info on the TeamBath page is taken exactly from the University of Bath page, but there are a few differences. Quadraxis 18:05, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
- Soluble and Solvent ought to be merged into Solution, for it is the same subject which ought to go under a single article in an encyclopedia, so these articles repeat one another. See Discussion page at Talk:Solution. - Centrx 14:16, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- Cost accounting possibly could be merged with management accounting. Although my professor does not make a difference between these two, I am not so sure so I ask for your opinion. Renata3 16:17, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
- Myoclonus should probably subsume
Myoclonic jerkand Myoclonic seizure, as they're all referring to the same thing and myoclonus is technically correct and has the most information of the three. Nmg20 12:03, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
- Riddle Game should be merged into riddle. -Sean Curtin 9 July 2005 04:50 (UTC)
- Sandia Base into Sandia National Laboratories. The former is part of the history of the more signifigant latter and is mentioned briefly in the latter. --Jacob 8 July 2005 22:25 (UTC)
May 2005
- Third party (United States) and Third party politics both cover the same topic. Third party (United States) is by far the better and more extensive of the two and I suggest merging anything worth keeping from Third party politics into the other article. Kaibabsquirrel 18:50, 28 May 2005 (UTC)
- Wow, that's a pretty heavy American bias in Third party politics. Ideally, I would go for a US-specific example/discussion of third parties in Third party (United States) and an academic/theory-based discussion in Third party politics. But given these choices....
- List of World War II military units of Germany should be merged into List of German divisions in WWII. If it then turns out that not all of these units are divisions, the division article should be moved to "...military units...". Lupo 12:20, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
- Supercoil and Superhelix have significant overlap, but my knowledge of the subject is not enough to judge how the merging would be done better. -- Rune Welsh 15:53, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
April 2005
- Roosevelt Roads Operating Area should be merged with Roosevelt Roads Naval Station Antonio Manoloco Martin" 09:24, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Puerto Rican Operating Area and Roosevelt Roads Naval Station now. --taestell 03:35, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
March 2005
- Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals should include materials from Daubert Standard. -- Toytoy 14:45, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)
January 2005
- One-hour Thanksgiving dinner should be merged into Convenience food Joyous 05:42, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Tuberculin should be merged into Mantoux test. The articles have duplication of content, with the majority of the tuberculin article already being in the Mantoux test. On e possibility is to merge tuberculin into mantoux test, since the mantoux test incorporates tuberculin, and then discuss what tuberculin is. Another possibility is to keep the articles separate, delete the redundant content, and let the tuberculin article discuss what tuberculin is, its history, etc., and then put all the information about the test itself under Mantoux test. —Brim 07:58, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)
December 2004
- Rug making should be merged with Carpet, then there is Category:Rugs that is in the wilderness... it could be renamed Carpet making. If there is good cause to maintain Rugs separately from Carpets, then make that clear and institute it as a disambiguation page or prominent cross linking. Rug making & Carpets and particularly how they refer to each other is a bit sloppy, confusing and redundant. Also, rug redirects to "rug making" while rugs redirects to "carpet". --RoyBoy 03:48, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)
November 2004
- I think toxicity, toxin should be merged. Perhaps also poison, so that the subtle difference between a "toxin" and a "poison" can be explained on the merged page, rather than duplicated on both pages. (toxic already redirects to toxin). --DavidCary 19:24, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
September 2004
- Ryukyuan songs should include material from Tinsagu nu Hana Asadoya Yunta Shima nu Hito Futami Jouwa Ninjoubushi Tanchamee Hana into one article that would not be a stub[;] Futami Jouwa was in VfD but no consensus[;] this merge should save them all. rhyax 18:56, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)
May 2004
- Wikipedia:Browser notes into meta:Browser issues with MediaWiki. --Zigger 12:28, 30 May 2004 (UTC)
- there could be a case to leaving them separated[:] firstoff, the two projects use difrent[sic] character encoding[;] secondly the wiki one seems to be along the lins of, if you have x browere[sic], then you might have x problems, where[]as the meta one seems like, there are the known issues with meta. although i think that may just be a diffrence[sic] in style.
- They should be merged. Any "problems" that may be had using Wikipedia with a browser are bugs, and should be fixed. Some of the content on this page should also be merged into Wikipedia:Tools. JesseW 05:52, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- There is great overlap between these two Afghanistan articles: Democratic Republic of Afghanistan and Soviet war in Afghanistan. Worse, they do not agree with each other! TwoOneTwo 22:27, 14 May 2004 (UTC)
Unsigned/undated listings
- HavenCo is an almost identical reiteration of content already included in Sealand, (and which belongs there IMO) with a few additional links. I propose that the links should be merged with the Havenco section of Sealand, and HavenCo then deleted.
- Islamism should be merged into Islam as a political movement
- Italian unification#Italy after the Congress of Vienna (1815) and Historical states of Italy#Italy in the year 1815.
- Jury trial and jury: a lot of material in jury is about the trial process, and should be moved accordingly. US-specific and non-US specific aspects should be sorted out. Jury should keep jury selection, indemnification etc.
- Mass airflow sensor and Mass air meter should be merged. Also I think the former is most commonly referred to with 'Air' and 'Flow' as separate words. Also, should be disambiguated from MAF
- Metal Slug X is a retooled version of the Metal Slug 2 video game. The articles contain mostly the same information aside from the minor diferences and should be merged. manmonk
- Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania should be merged with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania according to what seems to be a general policy for having a single article for conterminous entities: San Francisco County, California redirects to San Francisco, California; Nantucket County, Massachusetts redirects to Nantucket, Massachusetts; Kings County, New York redirects to Brooklyn, etc.
- Posadas and La Posada contain similar content, descriving the Mexican holiday tradition. These should be merged, and a redirect set up from one to the other. Las Posadas is already redirecting to La Posada.
- Postposition and adposition I think this article should be merged with adposition along with preposition. Currently, adposition is merely a stub, and even if we include the quite large corpus of text in preposition, it still wouldn't be too big to handle. Especially if we try limit the amount of examples. Adposition is the combined term and since placement is the only thing differing the various "-position", it doesn't seem all that useful to keep separate articles on them. At least not until it's grown too large to be housed in one article.
- Please make replies at talk:preposition so we can keep the discussion together. --Peter Isotalo 16:53, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
- Rules of war in Islam: the article is subet to the article on Jihad
- Sparta (city), Wisconsin should be merged into Sparta, Wisconsin. The information about the "city" is more accurate, and there is not a separate town and city.
- Taboo Tuesday into WWE (per VfD)
- VfD decided, but I suggest perhaps merging with list of WWE Pay-Per-View events, all better yet leaving alone. Przepla 22:20, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Transmission (automobile)/automatic transmission/gearbox/transmission (mechanics)/manual transmission—some should be merged, others split off
- I merged Transmission (automobile) into transmission (mechanics), before checking this page. Maybe it would be better to add automatic transmission and manual transmission back into Transmission (automobile). --Key45 20:58, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- U.S. Far East Air Force, U.S. Army Forces Far East, Philippine Army Air Corps, Philippine Department, Offshore Patrol—need to be rationalised somehow
