You have a userbox Template:User UN which links your userpage to United Nations Wikipedians. There is currently a movement to ban userboxes from Wikipedia which are shared and which create Lists of Wikipedians. Certain admins have taken it upon themselves to preemptively sabotage and/or delete such categories and template. Here is the incident report which reported damage to yours, in which hundreds of userpages were delinked from categories without the users' knowledge. They have been stopped, barely, and the damage reverted— for now. |
|||
There is a Wikipedia:Userbox policy poll, which if passed, will make required by policy the damage done to categories and templates such as User UN/United Nations Wikipedians. If you do not want this to happen, I urge you to vote Oppose. in the poll. Support is currently running at about 66%, and your vote could make the difference. It is said to require 75%-80% to be deemed reflective of consensus. |

Hello. I noticed you uploaded Cocktail Glass 1.JPG to Wikipedia. Please add a image copyright tag to that images description page. Please see our image use policy for more details. Thanks. Zzyzx11 | Talk 01:34, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Nice start!
What you have is a good dictionary definition. I've put a "move to Wiktionary" template on it. BTW, welcome aboard! - Lucky 6.9 07:15, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
You know, that's a good question. It can link to Wiktionary, technically speaking. In a "transwiki," the original info might be lost. I've never attempted one myself. I think I'll just mosey on back to your article and hang a suitable stub notice for this site instead. Oh, and if you ever want to e-mail me or anyone else, just log in. Look in the toolbox in the lower left hand corner of your screen and you'll see a link called "E-mail this user." Click on it, fill in the body of the letter and hit the "send" button at the bottom. - Lucky 6.9 07:45, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
All set. I added a couple of wikis and fixed the intro just a bit. - Lucky 6.9 07:47, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Requesting permission for an image
I saw your question on the Village Pump. You might want to take a look at Wikipedia:Boilerplate requests for permission. You're not required to use the form letters given there, but you can look over them to make sure you've included all the necessary details. It's particularly important to be clear about the GFDL - images that are used on Wikipedia must be freely redistributable. Thanks! FreplySpang (talk) 15:37, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi '132' - I presume this is what you're letting me know about (I'd not been involved in it before!); I'm not too hot on licensing, but that does appear to be a bit restrictive to me; in effect they're not allowing third party use, so I fear it isn't a free license within the wiki rules . . . one of those annoying "This user finds copyright paranoia disruptive" cases grrrr...! But it would be worth getting one or two other opinions if you can. What's it a pic of? - MPF 18:17, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, probably best to do your own diagram! For the userbox box, put Boxboxtop at the top of them, and Boxboxbottom at the end (just copy'n'paste them); not sure how that might conflict with that WikiDefcon thing, though - MPF 18:41, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
This is a test...
It is only a test....
Vandalism makes me cry...
Agreed! I was away from the computer having dinner so missed it all, but it looks like it's gone now (red link) so it's been deleted. I think stuff like that usually does get zapped fairly quickly . . . you should've seen the deletions log yesterday (only admins can see it, I took a look for the first time) I scrolled down the first two pages (400 deleted pages), they were ALL dated 1st Feb! I guess there's a limit to how quickly it can get done! - Seeya! MPF 19:35, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Userpage
Hi 132 - I've put the userboxes into one column, see if you like it better like that - MPF 17:45, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
You marked Angie Spencer for deletion
Can you please sign the entry using ~~~~. That way people know who is the nominator. Welcome BTW and keep up the good work :) Dr Debug (Talk) 19:11, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Redirects
Hi 132 - sorry to say, redirects only work to a page title, the format Redirect: Genetic code#Table 1: RNA codon table to a section header doesn't work. Annoying, I know! - MPF 22:35, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Damn it. They should fix that. Username132 22:45, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah! Trouble is, we are 'They', and I at least don't know how to do it :-( MPF 22:51, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
It's disappeared ...
Hi again - better let you know, the 'Electrophoretic mobility shift assay' page you wikified a bit, the whole thing was a gross copyright violation from the start (from [1], clearly marked 'copyright 2002'), so it's deleted now. Always worth checking if you find an article that looks suspiciuosly detailed and complete yet not wikified, there's a high probability it is copied and pasted in from another website. Then it just needs checking if the website is public domain (this one wasn't) or whether the original uploader had indicated that s/he held the copyright and gave permission for its use (it wasn't). If it fails these tests, it is a candidate for taking to Wikipedia:Copyright problems (or drop me a note; I speedied this one under the blatant infringements section) - MPF 23:13, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Tip
For when you start the mSIN3 interaction domain page you're planning - paste this line in at the top of the page:
-
This is because the wiki software auto-capitalises the first letter in every page title, so it will appear at "MSIN3 interaction domain"; the template above adds an explanation of the correct lower case first letter (for an example in use, see e.g. easyJet). - MPF 00:18, 9 February 2006 (UTC) PS you have e-mail, pls reply!
Added the naming restriction thingy
Good article. Somebody wants you to include references though - and actually you should ;) - so include when you say that they are necessary to increase the rate of transcription. That is if the link which google found for me is relevant, because I know nothing about this subject. Dr Debug (Talk) 02:11, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Somebody does? How rude... I'll reference the book I'm using which means more work for me >:O --Username132 02:14, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- She has a beautiful name as well. Francisco Valverde wanted you to include references. Book references are fine as well. Just make a section and reference the book. Dr Debug (Talk) 02:24, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Done. Why is the subject of the article in bold? --Username132 02:37, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
User page
Hi 132 - answered your 'other eternal question' :-)
Also 'Drosophilia' is a typo for Drosophila, which already exists :-)) MPF 23:56, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks :) -Username132 00:00, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- I've made 'Drosophilia' into a redirect, as it seems to be a common typo (68,000 google hits!) - MPF 00:03, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
