Ominous threats about neutral votes
Toad40, (and pinging Phil Bridger who was also concerned): To explain further, a neutral vote (yes, a neutral vote!) might stress out the 235-0-1 nominee. Even thought this would still result in a 100% support rate (the way we do the math). We simply cannot have that. Our article on Roman triumphs says "In some accounts, a companion or public slave would remind him from time to time of his own mortality (a memento mori)". Wikipedian triumphs opt instead for enforced unanimity. A harmless neutral vote in the Neutral section results in ominous threats; I should probably consider myself lucky I wasn't blocked indef for a temporary humorous oppose in the same RFA last week (and an actual memento mori would probably result in a T&S report for death threats).
Or, to be less sarcastic, what you did was a little goofy, but no, it didn't deserve the threat. I'm uneasy that someone can say "I would recommend moving to support or deleting your !vote", and only one person bats an eye (to be fair, one person so far).
Haven't seen your name before, nice to meet you. If this was your introduction to RFA, then sorry if it was a little depressing. RFA is kind of a bizarre place these days. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:00, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
- Floquenbeam Phil Bridger Sorry if I gave bad advice. I was more concerned about how other people would react. I personally don't care. If he wants to go neutral he can. I was just worried about possible backlash. Scorpions13256 (talk) 22:15, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
- Also, Toad40, I apologize if I sounded intimidating. I normally wouldn't have said anything. Scorpions13256 (talk) 22:21, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
