The Great Revival: CVU Vandalism Studies Project
Hi! We're dropping you this rather unexpected message on your talk page because you signed up (either quite a while ago or rather recently) to be a member of the Vandalism Studies project. Sadly, the project fell into semi-retirement a few years ago, but as part of a new plan to fix up the Counter-Vandalism Unit, we're bringing back the Vandalism Studies project, with a new study planned for Late 2012! But we need your help. Are you still interested in working with us on this project? Then please sign up today! (even if you signed up previously, you'll still need to sign up again - we're redoing our member list in order to not harass those who are no longer active on the Wiki - sorry!) If you have any questions, please leave them on this page. Thanks, and we can't wait to bring the project back to life! -Theopolisme (talk) & Dan653 (talk), Coordinators
CVU
Hi. I just want you to know that all your personal hard work on various aspects of CVU is highly appreciated. I watch the developments carefully but don't want appear as an interference by chiming in there. I would however mention that I also share the concerns expressed by some that the project may be becoming a tad bureaucratic. It's interesting to note that that WP:NPP, a system that is in every way as important as counter vandalism (but different), has never needed the same complex project infrastructure, but it certainly has endemic problems with new and/or inexperienced users who could do with some training, but it seems to be improving (slowly). We'll know more when the new NewPagesFeed prototype goes live. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:28, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Ah yes - I can't wait for the toolbar/whatchamacallit, the screenshots look really cool. I also agree that the high levels of bureaucracy are really too much - especially on the CVUA Front (I don't think there's really any in the other parts of the CVU, which is good!) and I think this is something we need to try to end - but as people settle into their "instructing" - which is the key part of the Academy - I think that the goals of some of the instructors to become "coordinators"/other unneeded arbitrary positions will disappear and the Academy will become what it was always meant to be - just a place for new counter-vandals to learn the ropes. Thanks! Theopolisme TALK 14:21, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

- I think the main thing to remember is that at Wikipedia anyone can be an 'instructor' or a coordinator without the need to pass through an arbitrary system imposed by an unofficial project group, although they should of course have lots of clue, a good knowledge of how Wikipedia works, and plenty of maturity - things that only come with extensive experience. It's not as if these 'positions' carry any authority at all. I'm a coordinator of some really big projects here (including the NPP which doesn't even have or need an official coordinator), but all coordinators do is keep everyone informed, keep the talk pages and lists correctly formatted, and occasionally move comments to the right places. Things like needing to create a category to keep track of one's own project pages are probably largely superfluous. See this for an example of an architecture of a well organised, very large project I created. All that said, I'm seriously looking into possible solutions for ensuring real competency of patrollers once the new New Page Patrol system goes live, and that's one of the reasons why I am watching the development of your CVU/A so closely. I'm sure I can learn something from it. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:33, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Lowcountry Highrollers is listed on the target dab page; see also Google.
This is surely preferable to redirecting Highrollers to Lowcountry Highrollers and placing a hatnote on the latter. Thanks. 92.40.44.55 (talk) 15:45, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, especially from these websites. I found one of her books at my school's library (which hadn't been borrowed in 7 years, all dusty, ugh!!). I got curious (because her book is really interesting!) and went to do some research on who this person is. It took me some time to collect almost all the information to create the Wiki page about her.
These are basically the websites I get my information from:

अपनी जन्मभूमि से बिछड़ने का दुःख
Hi. If you were patrolling pages according to WP:NPP, you would have discovered that अपनी जन्मभूमि से बिछड़ने का दुःख is a blatant COPYVIO of http://myrgewad.blogspot.com/2012/03/20-20.html. Ahh, complicated stuff, NPP! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:57, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

The Tea Leaf - Issue Five
Hi! Welcome to the fifth edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!
- Guest activity increased in July. Questions are up from an average of 36 per week in June to 43 per week in July, and guest profile creation has also increased. This is likely a result of the automatic invite experiments we started near the end of month, which seeks to lessen the burden on hosts and other volunteers who manually invite editors. During the last week of July, questions doubled in the Teahouse! (But don't let that deter you from inviting editors to the Teahouse, please, there are still lots of new editors who haven't found Teahouse yet.)
- More Teahouse hosts than ever. We had 12 new hosts sign up to participate at the Teahouse! We now have 35 hosts volunteering at the Teahouse. Feel free to stop by and see them all here.
- Phase two update: Host sprint. In August, the Teahouse team plans to improve the host experience by developing a simpler new-host creation process, a better way of surfacing active hosts, and a host lounge renovation. Take a look at the plan and weigh in here.
- New Teahouse guest barnstar is awarded to first recipient: Charlie Inks. Using the Teahouse barnstar designed by Heatherawalls, hosts hajatvrc and Ryan Vesey created the new Teahouse Guest Barnstar. The first recipient is Charlie Inks, for her boldness in asking questions at the Teahouse. Check out the award in action here.
- Teahouse was a hot topic at Wikimania! The Teahouse was a hot topic at Wikimania this past month, where editor retention and interface design was heavily discussed. Sarah and Jonathan presented the Teahouse during the Wikimedia Fellowships panel. Slides can be viewed here. A lunch was also held at Wikimania for Teahouse hosts.
As always, thanks for supporting the Teahouse project! Stop by and visit us today!

New Pages newsletter
Hey all :)
A couple of new things.
First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.
On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right.
It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 00:07, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

- Re that attack page (which I have zapped), was the text of the message supplied by the new curation system? I came here to say that I think, for an undoubted attack page, it was much too polite. - Sorry for butting in...but the subject in question died in 1942 during the Holocaust. Article needs expanding, citations etc, but as the subject is not living, I dont see why it should be deleted. Just my 10p :) Irondome (talk) 04:42, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Ahahahahah! You WIN, Irondome. xD <smacks head with trout> Nice going, dude. Theopolisme TALK 04:45, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Anderson's BLPPROD was perfectly legitimate. One main purpose of BLPPROD and why it must not be removed, is to try and catch the creator while s/he is still online. There is nothing bitey about it. - I still don't think you get what happened here... why are you warning me - for a BLPPROD - when I was not the article creator? All I did was tag it for various issues... Be careful not to WP:BITE newbies here - wait a bit before tagging articles for deletion, unless they're obvious violations. :) Theopolisme TALK 03:51, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
