Revision as of 22:43, 7 October 2014
CSI Dioceses
The Church of South India is indeed a full member of the Anglican communion, but it isn't just Anglican. It's also Methodist. It's also a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches. So the diocese articles shouldn't have "Anglican" in their titles. That would be privileging the Anglican aspect of CSI above the others. By all means, though, start a move request. StAnselm (talk) 06:27, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
- I appreciate your good faith. I will reply at the move request. StAnselm (talk) 08:19, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
- Also, I think you have misunderstood naming conventions. If the name of the diocese is unambiguous (e.g. Diocese of Tasmania) then that should be its name. StAnselm (talk) 10:14, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Opting in to VisualEditor
As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable
". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:25, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for November 21
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Apostolic Nunciature to Malaysia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Giovanni Moretti (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Padre Conceição College of Engineering
Regarding my changes please see this and this. I took these images on 10 January 2014. Regards, Peroxwhy2gen Talk 12:05, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- The college occasionally uses accented characters to display the college name, but never in printed or online text. The college logo has unaccented characters, the mandatory disclosure document, which one could consider to contain the official name contains unaccented characters. The Goa University college also refers to the college with unaccented characters. A google search for PCCE, Goa doesn't contain any result with accented characters in the first few pages, which indicates that the most commonly used spelling is unaccented, and as per WP:COMMONNAME, this is what we must use as the article title. Moving of Syro-Malabar church articles
since it is no more a cathedral nowAchayan (talk) 11:51, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes it is explained. But that does not make any difference as Wiki uses 'common usage' principle rather than 'official term'. All the wiki articles mention Roman Catholics for latins. Eastern Catholics are treated as seperate. Though technically both can be called RC. But commonly RC is not used as an umbrella term but specifically to denote latins or western catholics. Every article follows this convention. Just another example is here: List_of_Roman_Catholic_dioceses_(structured_view) Achayan (talk) 12:33, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Expansion of articles
Thank you for your contributions.
Whenever you expand the article, such as Roller sport in India, you should concentrate on expanding the sections that you've recently created. Once they exceed a good amount of characters, you can create another. It is just an advice, because a number of people believes in having no sections than having sections that have got few sentences. Need Help
Hi i saw u created template for sports in India... i want to create similar for Pakistan. can u help me? Sulaimandaud (talk) 00:21, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Sulaimandaud, it is not very difficult to create templates. If you want to create a template called 'Sport in Pakistan', then you will have to create Template:Sport in Pakistan. You can see the source code of any template by visiting the template page eg. Template:Sport in India and click on 'Edit source' at the top. To make things easier for you, you may want to begin from an existing template that is similar to what you want to create. You have to give the 'title' parameter which gives the text at the top, and list each group sequentially using group1 (name of group), list1 (links in the group, separated by '*'), group2, list2, and so on. Finally, you can use the 'below' parameter to give the text that appears at the bottom. Do let me know if you need any further assistance. The Discoverer (talk) 01:28, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Regarding replacement of Konkani with Romi Konkani
Dear Discoverer, I understand your concern. But I have touched only those topics which I know are solely related to Romi Konkani. I have not touched any material which can be generally classified as coming under Konkani in general. Wherever it is necessary I have put forward both Romi and Devanagari Konkani. In the films I have edited, I know for sure that they were completely shot in Romi Konkani. Those topics and films I knew don't belong to Romi Konkani, like Ujwadu i've not touched. So, I can't understand why you see foul play in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Axv4444 (talk • contribs) 11:35, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
Konkani
A search of "Goanese Konkani" returns a good number of results in lists of languages here, indicating that people do/have used Goanese Konkani as the name of the language. Use of XYZ language and whether or not it'll show up with language appended is probably just a function of total number of cases (e.g., "British English language" shows up, but "Newfoundland English language" doesn't, presumably because there are more sources about British English than Newfoundland English in general). WilyD 10:06, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- It's exceedingly easy to open a request at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion, you shouldn't fear it. As far as words being correct/incorrect, that's not a meaningful distinction in English, of course. Goanese clearly is/was used, so it's clearly plausible - a much lower standard than likely. Beyond that, language nomenclature is a horrendous mess, better suited to discussions than speedy decisions (indeed, how can something be not a language but a group of dialects - a language is a group of dialects). If you think it should be deleted, but it doesn't meet the speedy deletion criteria, just request deletion at RfD. If you have technical problems, I can offer some help, but the instructions are pretty straightforward. WilyD 11:32, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
