I think what's happening is that some people are confusing "tv-movie" style showings of the ''Hitchhiker's Guide'' BBC 2 series for an original movie adaptation, which, naturally, is not the case. I've left a section about this on that article's talk page - there have been at least three editors who have made that mistake since Monday. --[[User:JohnDBuell|JohnDBuell]] 03:24, 16 February 2006 (UTC) |

copyright status of Majulah Singapura
User:Zscout370 is attempting to put all the national anthems of the world into the commons, and I inquire about the status of the song entity itself, as well as any recordings made by the government. As unlikely as it may seem, is there a sliver of hope that if not for the recordings, the song entity in itself (the music, lyrics, etc.) are in the public domain? Hope you can shed some light on this info. -- Elle vécut heureusement toujours dorénavant (Be eudaimonic!) 10:00, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I reverted this article back to the 17:33, 26 December 2005 version by DocJohnny, being the one that existed for a week or two before Gimmiet appeared. This had the effect of removing the NPOV and fact templates you had added. In reality, the factual accuracy and neutrality of that version are no longer seriously disputed, and neither of the parties involved in the previous edit war had touched the article for 2-3 weeks. --BillC 09:24, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Who Remembers Doctor Who?
I appreciate your comment, Khaosworks, but in fact there are several points beyond my phrase "my father told me" which indicate the accuracy of the memories. 1 - My father's position as a script writer for Pathe Films (who indeed later produced the movies with Peter Cushing in the title role). 2 - The timing of his remarks to me, which were made in 1951, at a time when our family was about to migrate to New Zealand from England. The remarks could not have been made at any other time, since a year later we were on the other side of the world, and he was working with the New Zealand Film Unit - far removed from his work at Pathe News. 3 - I do recall reading a vague reference to the earlier development of Doctor Who stories by Pathe, and will endeavour to find them, but don't hold your breath. 4 - The reference to Ralph Thomas, who was Head of the Pathe News section (my Dad's boss), and in the early sixties was head of ABC TV in London. Why is the earlier development of Doctor Who not written of? At a guess, it is a distraction from the main thrust of all Doctor Who history which concentrates on the BBC TV activities. But, maybe the developers don't like to admit to the earlier history, despite the evidence of it in the two Doctor Who moves produced by Pathe Films. Thank you for your patience in reading this. I've waxed on enough, and can only encourage you to look further in the Doctor Who history, because I'm not inventing any of my edit! Cheers, Bruce Burn

Doctor Who Plot Summaries
Thanks for the heads up on the plot summaries - I'm being a bit maverick flying around and doing summaries as and when, but I'll now steer clear of anything else in the Tom Baker era for a while. The ones I've done in that period are (I think) Hand of Fear, Stones of Blood, Creature from the Pit and the Leisure Hive. Will focus elsewhere - the handful of Pertwees mising a plot summary looks like a good place. By the way, what do you consider to be best length for a plot summary? I try to be relatively concise - The Space Pirates and The King's Demons are good examples - but is this correct? I've noticed some very brief Plot summaries - The War Games, The Invasion of Time - and also some really long ones like The Curse of Fenric. --Litefoot 17.20, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Dalek
I'm looking at your recent edit to Dalek where you removed mention of the first time a Dalek was not defeated by stairs, the first time the bumps were shown to be a self destruct mechanism, the relationship of daleks to humans, and so forth. You rationale was "rm unnecessary detail". I realise its a subjective decision, but it seemed like relevant - and indeed encyclopedic - useful detail to me. --Nantonos 22:34, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Many thanks for taking the time to discuss the rationale. I appreciate it. I should have been clearer that I was not querying all the edits, just the specific ones noted. No objections to deleting 7 o'clock, for example :). As you have explained, the edits I was querying were to remove duplicated material, so I am certainly happy with that. Thanks again for the explanations. --Nantonos 03:06, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

The Tardis Key
Hi Khaosworks. Let me start out by saying how much I appreciate how well you take care of the entire Dr Who output/input here at wikipedia (your changing my incorrect word of morphed to segued on the Five Doctors page is a great example). I do need you to check your change about the Tardis key on the Aliens of London page though. Every reference book I have (Peter Haining, Howe, Stammers, Dr Who monthly, etc) states that the alien key mentioned was an idea of Jon Pertwee's and that they hoped to market said key (I got mine from Alien Entertainment in Illinois). It was used in his last season and for the first two of Tom Baker, which my original entry acknowledged. It was then retired and only the Yale key was used for the rest of the BBC run. Its reappearance in the 8th Dr movie included showing a rather unique way of how it fit into the lock. Per the note that you made with your entry, if you can name a Davison story (or Colin Baker or McCoy BBC run story) where it was clearly used I will check it and gladly apologize to you for this entire entry on your talk page. I know I don't need to say keep up the good work because I also know that it is a labor of love for you, but I do want to say, again, how much I appreciate and respect all the effort that you put in.User:MarnetteD | Talk 15:27, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Doctor Who (1996) run time
You mentioned that the Television Companion says 84' 39" - that may be so, but I've got an original recording on broadcast BetaSP here I've had ever since I worked at Fox, back when the movie originally aired... looking at the timecode on the tape, it comes in at 89 minutes and 28 seconds, which is also the runtime of the DVD version I made from that old master - the Television Companion is in error. Funny you should say that to me, the bit about being outside of acutal Wiki business; when I lived in Fifestead, there was a man called General McCully who also lived there. He often said wise things such as "take it in turns" and "do as General French did". When I say General French, I do not, of course, mean a French general, but a general whose name was French (so before they became a general, they'd have been called Mr French, unless they were a doctor, professor or clergyman or similar). Anyway, General French had nothing to do with it, because it's General McCully I'm talking about.
He always used to give long, pointless, irrelevent anecdotes to everyone, and there's one he once told to me about when I'd been discussing spiders with him: When I was fighting a war in the desert, many years ago, there was a Scotsman who simply keeled over with exhaustion. When I said to him "Get up, my man. Remember your great national hero, Robert the Bruce, he was lying in a cave, and saw a spider, just like the one on your kitchen ceiling, and it was trying to get out of the cave. It tried and failed more than fifty times, but eventually, it reached the top, inspiring Robert the Bruce to try to get out himself."
Suddenly the Scotsman jumped up, and I was very pleased with him. Except he didn't get up because he was inspired by my pep talk, he got up because a scorpion had crawled up his kilt!. </story> And from that day on, because he'd really wasted a lot of my time rambling and rambling about nothing to do with anything I was particularly concerned with, I refused to speak to him outside business. Do you see the link? I was most amused by it! Yours,--TheDoctor10 (talk|email) 17:14, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ah...I see you're refusing to reply! I once read a story about someone who refused to do things, except in this case it was about someone who refused to listen to instructions and advice. It was set in a small village being terrorised (and when I say "terrorised", I make no reference to terrorism) by a Big Bad Wolf (not, of course, referring to the Doctor Who Bad Wolf, but to the Big bad Wolf in the article linked to).
- Anyway, this boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice decided to scare everyone, so he told them that the wolf was coming to eat them. They all believed him, and started running around like headless chickens (and it being a farming village, quite possible the chickens would have run around like headless chickens too, only they wouldn't have been headless at that point, probably). Anyway, they eventually found out that there was no wolf coming to eat them, and got very cross with the boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice. They told the boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice never to tell lies like that again.
- The next day, this boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice decided to scare everyone, so he told them that the wolf was coming to eat them.
- And the next day, the Big Bad Wolf really did come, and the first person it found was the boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice. And the boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice shouted for help, and everyone ignored him, because they thought that the boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice was simply trying to scare them by saying that the Big Bad Wolf was hungry again. And so the Big Bad Wolf ate the boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice, and lived happily ever after.
- Actually, when I say that I read the story, actually I must confess that I was told it when I was at Fifestead Grammar School, because what happened was that I set the fire alarm off, and everyone panicked, and thought that there was a fire. And the headmaster took me into his office and told me this story. Anyway, do you see the connection with yourself ignoring my messages and the boy who refused to listen to instructions and advice? I do.--TheDoctor10 removed personal attack (talk) 08:37, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Adamantium Revert
Why did you edit out my change on how Ultimate Hulk was able to tear Ultimate Wolverine in half? It's perfectly plausible, and there was no reason to take it out. Human spines are not one solid bone, and Wolverine can be broken and cut in half between vertebrae, where there is no metal, only spinal tissue. I would appreciate an explanation for this, because it looks like you did it just to keep the page "yours".
- I've answered the similar question you asked on the talk page of Adamantium (comics), so please see that for more than enough justification for Khaosworks' revert. Also, there is no need to level such accusations at him, especially when it is someone who has greater familiarity with Wikipedia policies and guidelines and what constitutes good and bad editing. --Chan-Ho (Talk) 04:02, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
