Tariff
Hello!
Snooganssnoogans deleted all the passages relating to Ian Fletcher by saying that he is not an economist. Yet he is clearly recognized as an economist [1]. I'd like to put the deleted passages back, but I don't want to have a publishing battle with him. Do I have permission to restore the passages? if you allow me, can you tell Snooganssnoogans to stop the editing battle and stop deleting these passages. Thank you.Taroq (talk)
Snooganssnoogans considers Ian Fletcher is not an economist because he defends tariff. He does not respect the neutrality of point of view, which is one of Wikipedia's founding principles that all articles must respect. It is a matter of presenting all relevant points of view, attributing them to their authors and this implies not systematically imposing a point of view, by categorically revoking what might seem to diverge from one's own opinion.Taroq (talk)

Date formats
Please refrain from using purely numeric date formats on Wikipedia, as you did on Pound (currency). A date written as 01/02/03 means 1 February 2003 to a European, 2 January 2003 to an American or 3 February 2001 to a Japanese. Rather, use one of the date formats that is standard across Wikipedia: 18 June 2024 for articles on British/European topics, June 18, 2024 for articles on American topics, otherwise just keep it consistent throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers for more information on how to write dates in Wikipedia articles. Thank you. — Smjg (talk) 09:47, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Rank insignia moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Rank insignia, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~ Amkgp 💬 17:21, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
Economic liberalism
why did you revert my edition to economic liberalism? Akg427 (talk) 23:08, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Akg427: because the text "Economic liberalism is a political and economic philosophy" has opened the article for a very long time and your insertion of the word 'ideology' was unexplained. The article ideology says "... more recent use treats the term as mainly condemnatory", which makes your edit wp:pov. That probably wasn't your intention but that is its effect. Second, the opening paragraph should summarise the main themes of the body, but nowhere is the concept of ideology raised there. So you would need to to a lot of background reading to find citations to support "ideology" rather than "philosophy". I hope that explains my terse edit note. If you are not satisfied, please use the article talk page to seek consensus for change. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 00:13, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Hooke
Actually the Royalist focus of the Wadham cognoscenti was pretty significant. Hooke was form the Isle of Wight, a Royalist stronghold; he was sent to Wadham on a choral scholarship, which was deliberate, a sinecure unrder the Protectorate (when music in chiurch was banned), and the Wadham group, including Wren, Boyle and Hooke, were ardent Royalists. This is according to Waller, 'Espinasse, Jardine and others. I have 'Espinasse, plus her copy of Gunther, and Jardine, and chatted about it briefly with Jardine a couple of years back. - @JzG:, I don't disagree but wp:LEAD says that the lead should summarise the most important points of the body (not every point in the body). Hooke's royalism is certainly mentioned but not substantially, it doesn't have its own section for example. I think Occurring has a good point that the article has too much waffle (aka, wp:TLDR) and the lead in particular needs to be concise. If you remain unconvinced, would you start a new topic at the article talk page? --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 10:45, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
