Revision as of 15:52, 14 July 2010
Serbs: Infobox Religion
Actually, the religion section of the infobox for Serb ethnic group in Serbian language states that "Доминира православна, али има и протестаната, римокатолика и муслимана.", i.e. "Predominantly Orthodox, but also Protestant, Roman Catholic and Muslim" [1] I merely translated this text into English and added "Judaism and non-religious". As far as other ethnic groups are concerned, see also, for instance, the infobox on ethnic Hungarians, which apart from the two principal religious groups mentions much smaller communities of i.e. Greek Catholic or Jewish (ethnic) Hungarians.
Smaller religious groups should be included, as, after all, the article is on ethnic Serbs, and not on the Serbian Orthodox Church (note, for instance, that there are non-Serb members of Serbian Orthodox Church, i.e. most of the christian Roma - about half of all Roma in Serbia, and also some Vlach and Macedonian communities).
Alternatively, if you insist on defining ethnic Serbs as exclusively Serbian Orthodox, the population number would have to be corrected: total population would then have to be smaller, as it would refer to individuals who both (1) self-identify as ethnically Serbian AND (2) belong to the Serbian Orthodox Church. Estimating this number is actually much more difficult than it seems, even for Serbia: the census data collected information on ethnicity and religious affiliation separately. Therefore, for instance, the census data for religion would include non-ethnic-Serb memebers of the Serbian Orthodox Church (I've given three examples) and indeed, for ethnicity, it records ethnic Serbs who are not SOC affiliated. Therefore the population numbers referenced in the infobox would necessarily have to be adjusted for every country, starting with Serbia -- and would still be imprecise.
As estimating population size of an ethnic group is a difficult task without adjusting for religion, it would be far better to simply mention the smaller religious communities.
If you don't mind, I am also posting this reply in the talk section of the article.
Konfino (talk) 15:29, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Reverting my change of religion for the article on Serbs violates neutral POV: your personal preferences aside, I dont see how you can ignore individuals who (1) self-identify as ethnic Serbs AND (2) have a religion different from Serbian Orthodox.Konfino (talk) 16:35, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of Serb Uskoks
I have nominated Serb Uskoks, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Serb Uskoks. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Why?
Sorry I undid your edit. All I wanted was for you to explain why you changed that part of the Slobodan article. I don't know your reasoning. If you would explain it, I might not oppose it. Chrisrus (talk) 23:05, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
The article Novak Grebostrek has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- not clear how this meets notability guidelines
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 09:27, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:Serbian flag takovo.png
Thank you for uploading File:Serbian flag takovo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 14:40, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Niko Bellic
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Niko Bellic. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Niko Bellic. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Sinişa Dragin
A tag has been placed on Sinişa Dragin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The article Bregović (surname) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable surname, article has no encyclopedic content except a "list" of one single person.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Glenfarclas (talk) 03:20, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Ajdebre! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 15 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 902 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Fair use rationale for File:Tozovac.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Tozovac.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? feydey (talk) 13:01, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Bajamali.jpeg
Thanks for uploading File:Bajamali.jpeg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 10:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Is this refers to the mountain, park and archaeological site ofLeskovac, or the Hisar at Prokuplje? --93.86.231.143 (talk) 08:55, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- I know there are two "Hisars".
- One is at the end of urban area of Leskovac. There is the Park "9 Jugovića" and an archaeological site (probably Triballi settlement).
- And the other one is in Prokuplje. There is Tower of Jug Bogdan [6] and an archaeological site.
- Search on Google Maps for words "leskovac hisar" and it will show you the locations of them. --109.93.195.51 (talk) 12:50, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

The article Panos Markovic has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
