Stats in football players' infoboxes and update of career stats
Hi.
When you update the stats in football players' infoboxes please remember that you should also update the timestamps as of when the stats are correct. This is done by updating |pcupdate=
(or |club-update=
) parameter when updating club appearances and goals, or |ntupdate=
(or |nationalteam-update=
) when updating national team appearances and goals. The easiest way to do this is to use five tildes, which automatically converts to the current time. For example |club-update=~~~~~
.
When you update the career statistics please remember that you should also update that timestamp as well to a time when the stats are correct. This is done by manually updating the date above or below the statistics table. By doing this we show when the stats were last updated and it prevents other editors from accidentally updating the stats again.
This is done to show other editors when the stats were last updated and prevent them from accidentally updating the stats again, and also it shows readers that it has been updated.
Please keep this in mind. Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 14:00, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

Timestamps
Hi there. I notice from Séamus Coleman's page that you don't know how to add the correct timestamp. The easiest way to add timestamps is to type five tildes after the club-update or nationalteam-update parameters such as: |club-update=~~~~~
This will add the correct timestamp to articles at the time you updated the stats changes. I hope you understand now, cheers. Mórtas is Dóchas (talk) 08:53, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi there. The international stats were updated on 24 March 2017 after Coleman took part in the game against Wales. I updated the stats on 24 March 2017. As it stands, he has 43 caps and 1 goal for Ireland. Nothing had changed since 24 March 2017 so I don't know what you mean by incorrect timestamp. Tell you what it should not be changed in the first place because nothing regarding the international stats can be updated after 24 March 2017 so it is not my fault it's clearly someone's fault and he or she changed the timestamp to 25 March 2017. I urge you to revert it back to my edition. I'll you a simple question, what can be update regarding his international stats after 24 March 2017? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Efc1878 (talk • contribs)
- You have to update the timestamp properly. Just changing the date is not sufficient. The match was not played at 2am in the morning. The timestamp should be updated as described above. Qed237 (talk) 19:00, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Undoing productive edits
Hi. Please take more care in future. Your revision of this edit was unproductive; you merely readded the statement at the end under your own username. I understand undoing errors of football statistics in the article (not by myself) but this particular removal was unjustified, as it was correctly cited. --—Cyclonenim | Chat 10:32, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Updating timestamps
Can you please stop changing correct timestamps and also doing timestamps incorrectly when you're updating stats. Timestamps show when an event was recorded not the time of the event itself.
In future when you're updating stats, please please use five tildes. This automatically converts to the current time. For example |club-update=~~~~~
will give the correct timestamp to articles at the time you updated the stats changes.
Cheers. Mórtas is Dóchas (talk) 19:23, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at Tom Davies (footballer, born 1998) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
