1966 films
I have, as it happens, seen both...both for school. A Man for All Seasons has one of my favorite actors, Paul Scofield, but it suffers from two great flaws. One, I can't stand Robert Shaw's Henry - he's borderline two-dimensional, and the role calls for more nuance. Two, I feel like Bolt could have adapted his own play better - the play is better (at least as a read) than the film. Virginia Woolf made me realize just what an incredible actress Liz Taylor really is. Again, it's not as good as the play, but I don't care as much (in part, it is to be admitted, because the play is a bit too much.) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:06, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Nor do I like him in From Russia With Love, actually...my least favorite of the Connery Bond films. I haven't seen it complete, and really don't have any desire to. As for Welles, I feel like he's underutilized as Wolsey. Not surprising, given the size of the role, but still. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:25, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Not many, as I'm not really much of a film person. Though I've seen most of the Bonds - I'm that rare Bond fan who prefers Roger Moore to Sean Connery. (Not Connery's fault - he's a fine actor, but I think that his films suffer from weak scripts. Except for Diamonds Are Forever.) So - Live and Let Die is my favorite Bond. I also quite liked The 400 Blows when I watched it for school. And Arsenic and Old Lace - I love Cary Grant. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:14, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Haven't seen it, no. I'm not a big fan of Best Picture Oscar winners, as oftentimes I don't think the Academy knows what it's doing. Witness, for instance, the number of actors who were never recognized for their individual work... --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:51, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- OHMSS? Really? Sorry...that one's one of my least favorites. So is Moonraker, though that does have a couple of sequences that I really love. (The glass factory fight and the chase through Venice come to mind.) Generally speaking, I tend to dislike the ones that are grounded more in fantasy than reality. Did you ever see Die Another Day? --19:03, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- C'mon - A View to a Kill has some great moments. And Christopher Walken is wonderful. Forget the idiocies of the plot - I just enjoy watching him. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:33, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- The one problem I have with The Man with the Golden Gun is Goodknight. She's beyond unbelieveable. Otherwise, I think it's fun. Not the greatest film, perhaps, but I enjoy it a lot more than some of the others. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:49, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Exoticism counts for a lot - as does use of location. My favorite Bond films are the ones that really make use of their setting in ways that couldn't be done elsewhere. Like the bayou boat chase in Live and Let Die. Absolutely magnificent.

- Top five? Mmm, that's a tuffy. Three I got, but beyond that it fluctuates. My absolute favorite is Falstaff - it packs a great deal into a relatively small package, and is full of brilliant musical jokes. Second is Le nozze di Figaro - Mozart's most perfect opera. Third? Gianni Schicchi, of course - Puccini's one comedy, and a real gem. All three, incidentally, are comedies - I love them most of all because it's so hard to pull off comedy compared to drama. I've never really known what my last two would be. Die Meistersinger, I suppose, though it has its dreary moments. Peter Grimes, perhaps...maybe Nixon in China. They have their flaws, but I've spent enough time unpacking and studying them that I know them fairly well. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:05, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Not sure offhand. I'd say easily a hundred, likely a few more than that. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:08, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- It depends. Mostly the Kennedy Center, and I've been to the Metropolitan Opera a few times. (Seen maybe ten or fifteen things there.) There's a surprising number of local venues available, and a number of quite good smaller groups. I used to go out to Arlington, Virginia, a lot; there was a very good little shoestring company that did unusual work. Alas, they have folded, a casualty of the recession.

Thanks for your support on the talk page- annoyingly, I have no internet access right now and I'm in a library! Yes, there's not much worse on here than non contributors turning up and attacking the hard work of others on FAs and GAs. Don't worry about it, they clearly aren't experienced enough to know what constitutes a featured article. And I think the photo as an example is fine and a nice addition.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:39, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

British archival sources, language experts
Two questions. Do you know of any British or European archival sources, maybe like archive.org or open library, which might contain files of European or at least non-North American public domain reference works which could be uploaded to commons? Also, do you know of any people who are familiar enough with some of those languages who might be willing to go through the PDFs and get together, if the sources are "encyclopedic" in some way, lists of the longer articles in those works? Particularly if we could get the sources on commons, where everyone could access them, and, maybe, get the longer articles on wikiSource, I think we would both make it a lot easier for people to develop related content, and, maybe, for reviewers as well, if we were to eventually get many or most of the longer "entries" from such sources on WikiSource and available for reviewers. This would possibly be particularly true if we also had some more pages in Category:WikiProject lists of encyclopedic articles, for some of the newer sources. John Carter (talk) 15:52, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Off hand I can't think of anything, but it would of course depend on numbers to upload material anyway and most people are busy! Perhaps ask Charles Matthews and DGG if they know of anything?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:02, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Barnstar
Thank you for the barnstar and your kind comments. I had a look at your user page and much of what you say about Wikipedia resonates with me. As for your offer of help, I am currently battling through a rather gruelling FAC for the core article Sea. I have a collaborator for this but he is away at the moment. The FAC has been going on for six weeks and seems endless and whether it will ultimately be successful I am unsure. One reviewer keeps coming up with more and more "possible omission"s etc. Would you care to take a look? In asking you to do this, I am taking a risk because you might be critical, but if you liked the article, it could be helpful in bringing it to a conclusion, and if you don't like it, you could always stay silent! Thanks anyway. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:17, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
Eeks, that's extremely tough to write about and review. I'll try to look at it within the next few days but it will be very difficult to assess whether it's FA status given how complex the subject is.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:38, 28 September 2013 (UTC)

It looks as though everything in the AOL article about this cemetery is from the Globalpost article, so I don't see it as a separate source. Thanks for catching the 'phallic'. I'll be adding more from Stronach tomorrow. Dougweller (talk) 16:58, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Is it? OK. My point I guess (not realizing initially that you'd already said and done it), was that there is enough mentioning of it as a phallic site to state that some claim it is one not that it is one and that it would be wrong to completely hide it. Thanks for showing an interest and making the appropriate edits. See a picture of it, one on the right especially I'm sure most guys looking at it would think it phallic... Lack of content does not mean that it lacks notability. Did you try to look for sources to prove your claim User:Anupmehra?♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:11, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- @Blofeld:I do not see a reason why can't an article have both issues(or multiple issues). None of the sources available at first instance establish notability of the subject. And as per WP:WHYN, If only a few sentences could be written and supported by sources about the subject, that subject does not qualify for a separate page, but should instead be merged into an article about a larger topic or relevant list. I'm proding it again, please solve the raised concern(s) before you remove the tag again. AnupMehra ✈ 17:11, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
You're completely getting the wrong idea. A notable article will always be notable. A Spanish town, just look in google books. There you go, it passes GNG. If you want something expanded try asking!
