WikiProject CJKV disambiguation: a joint task force of Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation, Wikipedia:WikiProject China, Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan, Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam
Scope
This task force will work within the frameworks of Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation to handle all disambiguation pages involving the use of CJKV characters, which comprise of Chinese characters used across 4 East Asian languages: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese.
Guidelines
All the guidelines in WP:DAB apply. In addition, the following will apply:
- Disambiguation of CJKV character names
- Common CJKV character names should redirect to their corresponding acceptable article name per WP:ENGLISH as much as possible. However, if a CJKV name maps to multiple Wikipedia articles, disambiguation is required, and all the normal rules for WP:DAB apply.
- Traditional Chinese characters
- In the majority of cases, Traditional Chinese characters will be used to represent Kyūjitai, Hanja, and Hán tự. In such cases, the term "Traditional Chinese character" shall be used to refer to all of these character sets, and the terms may be used interchangeably.
- Default meaning of the term "Kanji"
- Disambiguation across the 3 character sets
- If the identical name in Traditional Chinese characters, Simplified Chinese characters, and Shinjitai differ, they should be disambiguated together as much as possible.
