- Unfortunately, I'm not. However, the Wikibooks user has made only 8 edits and has not used the account since 2005. It seems reasonable to me to conclude that the Wikibooks account is also inactive and will never lay claim to the SUL with the Wikipedia account. Is there a way this can be acceptable, or does the existence of the Wikibooks account mean I can't have this username? --Edward Tremel (talk) 02:22, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

- Reason: To remove "bot" from the username, since this account will be used by a bot platform not a bot so having "bot" in the username will cause confusion. The edit summary will show edits was done by a bot, so it will be within the bot policy. I will answer any questions from my main account, d'oh!.

- Could you explain further? What is the difference between a bot platform and a bot? Bot-flagged edits done by an account without "bot" in the name will be even more confusing, imo. –xenotalk 14:40, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Pallet is just a platform that provide a connection to Wikipedia, the magic comes from a editors coding a job to do edits to Wikipedia running on the platform. I want to avoid calling the platform a bot and instead call the jobs coded by editors a bot, to make editors aware that they are coding bots and need to make sure they follow the same polices other bots go through. The edit summery will have the name of the bot running and a link to its discussion page. If the jobs done on the platform are called bots and the platform called has "bot" in the username it makes it harder to explain what is going on. I hope that makes some sense. d'oh! talk 15:04, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- What about "Pallet Bot Platform" or something similar? "Pallet" could just be any old editor. –xenotalk 15:07, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Since the edit summery and the user page will show that this is a bot platform running a bot. I didn't believe a lengthy username was needed and with a edit summery being lengthy already (with bot and edit info) I didn't want to take up anymore room in user's wishlist and page's history. d'oh! talk 15:25, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- PalletPlatform? :D Benner9 (talk) 09:09, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- If we perform the rename, there is no guarantee that BAG won't just send you right back here to get it changed to something more suitable. Per Wikipedia:BOTPOL#Bot accounts, "it should be immediately clear that its edits are made by an automated account; this is usually accomplished by including the word 'Bot' at the beginning or end of the username". Yes, a descriptive edit summary and a bot flag will, in most cases, make it clear; but in other cases (such as a raw list of contributors to an article), it would not be clear. Would suggest you get clearance from BAG first with respect to the name avoid having to flip-flop back and forth. –xenotalk 13:38, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
