The Defiant[1] is an American punk rock supergroup consisting of vocalist Dicky Barrett (The Mighty Mighty BossToneS), Pete Parada (The Offspring), Greg Camp (Smash Mouth), Johnny Rioux (Street Dogs), and Joey La Rocca (The Briggs).
Band formation
The band began as the result of writing sessions between Barrett, Camp and Parada during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, following Parada's controversial departure[2] from The Offspring in 2021.[3]
Of the band's conception and musical direction, Barrett says: “All I’ve ever really wanted to do is bring people together and share a message of peace, love, and unity. With that in mind, the music created by The Defiant could very well be some of the best I’ve ever had a hand in making, as well as one of the most important and thoughtful musical experiences of my career. I am thrilled to be a part of it.”[4]
Debut album (2023-present)
The band released their debut album "If We're Really Being Honest" on October 27, 2023, through Cranberry Bog Records, immediately followed by a string of promotional appearances on Timcast IRL and other television and internet programs.
Quickly following the release of the record, the band announced a major US tour supporting Me First and the Gimme Gimmes[5] in Spring of 2024.
The band performed their single Dead Language[6] on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on April 3, 2024.
