[[User:Tylototriton]], a Dummy 101 query: if [[Nothofagus]] is a genus, how can it be used as Nothofagus zone? I'm not sure what that means. And should some of the text in the "Threats and conservation" section include "as of" dates? Some of the citations are over a decade old, so we should know to check if there are any changes in status or data on distribution. Also, per [[MOS:CURRENT]], "Recent studies have found some traditional Russulaceae species ... " (cited to 2007) could probably have the "recent" replaced by the 2007 specifics. 'Knack' isn't a sound or a way of breaking in English! My dictionary gives 'knacker' as a castanet etc., which is related to the German meaning (nothing to do with the usual English meaning), but knack is only a contrivance. So I changed it to 'crack'. Strobilomyces 19:07, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
Edibility
There's several statements in the edibility section which I am sure are true, but I'm struggling to find good references for them (cooking recommended, gastrointestinal problems caused by peppery species, pickling or parboiling for peppery species). I suppose that a good English-language handbook on mushrooms would be sufficient - can somebody help? Tylototriton (talk) 10:44, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Picture removal
After reviewing the article, I feel it is a little bit too heavy in pictures. The Lactifluus clarkeae ("Placement of the family" section) and Lactarius lilacinus ("Ectomycorrhizal symbiosis" section) photos do not really illustrate any important information, they are merely example species after all. I would remove them - opinions? Tylototriton (talk) 16:59, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Just did it finally... Looks better in my opinion. Tylototriton (talk) 17:37, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
