Screams Before Silence is a documentary film led by American businesswoman Sheryl Sandberg, that explores the sexual violence by Hamas during the Hamas-led attack on Israel, on October 2023, including events at the massacre at the Nova Festival and abductions to the Gaza Strip.[1] The film was released on YouTube on May 2nd 2024,[2] Sandberg has described this film as the most important work of her life.[3]
Film Production
The film was directed by Anat Stalinsky and led by Sheryl Sandberg. The shooting took place on February 2024. One of the participants in the film is Amit Soussana[4][5] who was abducted by 8 Palestinian men to Gaza and released in the hostage release deal on November 2023. She described the sexual assaults she experienced while being held by Hamas.[6] Additionally, the film includes many testimonies about rape and sexual assaults during the massacre at the Nova Festival and in other places in Israel where the attack took place.[7][8]
On May 5, 2024, the film will be aired in Israel on various platforms, including HOT, yes, Cellcom and Partner.[8]
