NIIT is a global education and training company based in New Delhi, India. Founded by Rajendra S. Pawar and Vijay K. Thadani in 1981, the company now provides IT and business training in over 40 countries. NIIT established IT education and training in India more than two decades ago.[1][2]NIIT has been recognized as Asia's largest IT training institution and has become the top 15 global head of education and training business.[3]
In 2004 IIT Delhi and NIIT would introduce an rigorous programme in bioinformatics sector. Bioinformatics would be provide at IIT and the IT modules would provide at NIIT centers. NIIT also tie up with with various universities which would cater in IT degree cources.[4]
Polarization
In 2004 , NIIT was polarized into two groups one is NIIT Limited, which focuses on the training and education in IT segment, and another which is known as NIIT Technologies concentrates on IT Services company.[5]
NIIT Technology
NIIT Technology was actually established in 2004 when split with NIIT Limited. According to NASSCOM NIIT technology is ranked among India's Top 20 IT software service expoter. NIIT Technologies follows global standards of development, which includes ISO 9001:2000 certification, assessment at Level 5 of both SEI-CMMi version 1.2 and People-CMM frameworks and ISO 27001 information security management certification. Its data centre operations are assessed at the international ISO 20000 IT management standards.[6]The company has ranked in BSE and NSE since 2004.[7]The company has been catering in different selected industry such as:

Acquirement
- NIIT Tecnologies has acquired German based company Softech. Softech had been catering for around small and medium airlines operation .
- NIIT Tecnologies also acquired UK based company ROOM Solution late in 2006-2007.[8]
NIIT Technologies has two subsidiaries -- NIIT SmartServe Limited and NIIT GIS Limited offer business process outsourcing and GIS Solutions, respectively.
Business Units
NIIT has organized itself along the following three lines of business:
- Individual Learning Solutions - This focuses on providing employability skills to people in the age group of 16–25 years. IT training forms the bulk of this segment. In recent years it has launched new offerings for training in Banking, Insurance and Financial services ,Executive Management Programsand training in skills for BPO/KPO sectors
- School Learning Solutions - this provides training and learning solutions to government and to private schools.
- Corporate Learning Solutions- this division provides training services such as off the shelf learning library, custom content development, customized instructor led training and training administration services. Element K a US company, acquired by NIIT in 2006, forms about two thirds of the sales from this division.
- Partnering Success:- Alliance with Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Thomson Prometric, CompTIA and EMC.
- NIIT Technologies, one of the biggest software firms in India, has collaborated with SAP AG to implement public sector units and software projects for government institutions.[9]
- NIIT Technologies supply services to US, Europe, Japan, Asia Pacific and India.
- NIIT and US software maker SunGard have collaborated on disaster recovery and planning solutions for the Asia Pacific region.[10]
- NIIT Ltd and Oracle Corporation Software India have forged an alliance to provide comprehensive training on oracle technologies. Who ever can complete oracle certification would have the opportunities to quality as the Oracle Certified Application Developer.
NIIT rode to its top position on the basis of GNIIT which is a multi track course for individual GNIIT
