Career
Lashauwn Beyond is a drag performer and costume designer. She competed on season 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race, and placed twelfth overall. She was eliminated on the second episode, which featured a wrestling challenge.[1] She removed her shoes during a lip-sync battle, against RuPaul's preference.[2]
On the first episode of the companion series RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked, Lashauwn Beyond said to fellow contestant Jiggly Caliente during an argument, "This is not RuPaul's Best Friend Race".[3] The catchphrase became a meme and has been repeated on subsequent seasons of Drag Race.[4][5] In 2018, John Paul Brammer of Them said she should receive royalty payments for coining the phrase.[6] The catchphrase was also included in IN Magazine's 2019 list of the show's seven best to date,[5] as well as Pride.com's 2023 list of ten Drag Race memes "that belong in the Hall of Fame".[7]
Since appearing on Drag Race, Lashauwn Beyond has reportedly kept a low profile.[8] She designs outfits for contestants to wear both on and off the show.[4] Latrice Royale is among her clients.[9]
Personal life
Lashauwn Beyond is from Florida,[1] and lives in Fort Lauderdale.[10] She came out as a trans woman after appearing on Drag Race.[9][11] Her "drag daughter" Malaysia Babydoll Foxx competed on the show's fifteenth season in 2023.[12]
