Kevin “Kevvy Mental” Maher (born in 1983 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian musician, film composer, remix artist and music producer, most notable for his work in Fake Shark - Real Zombie! as lead Vocalist and Programmer. He also plays guitar in Dave Ogilvie's band Jakalope and sings and plays mulitple instruments in Run With The Heard.
Early life
Maher was raised in Langley, BC and went to the Langley Fine Arts School majoring in Visual Art and also Drama.
Musical career
Maher is primarily a Vocalist in the band Fake Shark - Real Zombie!, but also plays Guitar, Piano and programs electronics. He has done a variety of remixes, listed below. He has also programmed electronics and contributed vocals to Jakalope, as well as worked alongside Dave Ogilvie remixing songs by Hugh Cornwell and The New Cities. He is currently working on an EP and an LP with the band Fan Death, as well as producing a full length record by former Lillix bass player Louise Burns.
Maher also hosts a podcast called 'My Sound' (Named after the Squarepusher song title).
In 2008, Maher teamed up with writer/director CJ Wallis to score the Sarah Slean short film 'Last Flowers'. The film received a pair of Leo Awards nominations in 2009.
He also has a new project with Louise Burns entitled Ione Sky.
