Kamen Rider OOO (仮面ライダーオーズ, Kamen Raidā Ōzu) is the primary and eponymous protagonist of the 2010-2011 Kamen Rider Series Kamen Rider OOO. The name "OOO" is pronounced similarly to both "O's", referring to the three O's in the television series' title which represent the character's transformation items, and "multiple kings" (王s, Ōzu). The three O's also represent the lemniscate with an additional circle, stating that Kamen Rider OOO is Over ∞ (infinity).
Kamen Rider OOO makes his debut appearance in Kamen Rider W Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate where he faces off against the Luna Dopant. An alternate spelling of the character's name is "Kamen Rider Ooz", which comes from Hyper Hobby magazine's September 2010 issue.[1]
Eiji Hino
Eiji Hino (火野 映司, Hino Eiji, portrayed by Shu Watanabe) is a man who has no dreams, no long-term job, and no family. Despite often coming off as happy go lucky in his personality, Eiji is actually quite strong willed and willing to help in need, even complete strangers and at the risk of his own life. When his latest part-time job at the Kougami Art Museum ends due to the destruction of the museum around him while in a drugged slumber, Eiji takes a strange red coin he found as his supposed pay. This causes a disembodied arm to begin to follow him around, demanding the red coin from him which is actually a part of his being. However when attacked by a Yummy, the arm is revealed as Ankh and is one of the ancient beings known as the Greeed, whose Core Medals he stole. When Eiji risks his life to rescue him, Ankh gives him two more Core Medals and the means to transform into Kamen Rider OOO. After destroying the Yummy, Eiji learn more about the Greeed and Medals for Ankh, who originally intended for Eiji to gather him Cell Medals for him. However, Eiji forces Ankh into promising him that he can transform to save lives and not just to gather Cell Medals. It was after facing the Greeed Kazari that Eiji is approached by the Kougami Foundation, offered a partnership with them in the fight against the Greeed.[2]
Kamen Rider OOO
After Eiji inserts three Core Medals into the OOO Driver belt, scans them with the O Scanner, and then holds the O Scanner up to his chest, he transforms into Kamen Rider OOO. Like Kamen Rider Double before him, OOO has multiple combinations of powers he can access to are referred to as Combos (コンボ, Konbo). Each aspect of a Combo gives OOO different powers and weaknesses. In a fight, if a particular section of OOO receives a significant amount of damage, the power of that section will be disrupted. If it takes further damage, the power will cut off completely and the section's corresponding Medal will be forcefully ejected from the OOO Driver, canceling the transformation. In addition, single-colored Combos are incredibly taxing on Eiji's body, as they embody the full power of the corresponding Greeed. Except for Tatoba Combo, the only combinations with "Combo" in their name are those of a single color. However, combinations using mixed Medals are known as Random Combos (ランダムコンボ, Randamu Konbo). According to Kougami, Eiji is actually the second Kamen Rider OOO; the original user of the belt is the one who fought and sealed the Greeed away 800 years ago.
Tatoba Combo
Tatoba Combo (タトバコンボ, Tatoba Konbo) is Kamen Rider OOO's main combination, using the powers of the Taka, Tora, and Batta Medals. As Tatoba Combo, OOO can see far distances, use the Tora Claw gauntlets, and can jump and kick with great strength. This Combo's Scanning Charge finisher is a Rider Kick called the Tatoba Kick (タトバキック, Tatoba Kikku), where after jumping high up with the power of the Batta Legs, he descends with a drop kick through the three rings that form, surrounding him with a different aura based on the Taka, Tora, and Batta Medals.[3]
- By using the Taka, Kamakiri, and Batta Medals, OOO transforms into Takakiriba (タカキリバ). As Takakiriba, OOO is armed with the detachable Kamakiri Swords. Along with Tatoba Combo, Takakiriba is one of two combinations OOO assumes in his appearance in Kamen Rider W Forever.[4]
- By using the Taka, Tora, and Cheetah Medals, OOO transforms into Takatorata (タカトラーター, Takatorātā). As Takatorata, OOO is able to move at blurring speeds and perform a rapid barrage of kicks.[5]
Gatakiriba Combo
Gatakiriba Combo (ガタキリバコンボ, Gatakiriba Konbo) is Kamen Rider OOO's green combination, using the powers of Uva's Core Medals: Kuwagata, Kamakiri, and Batta. As Gatakiriba Combo, OOO can create massive numbers of duplicates of himself, use the Kamakiri Swords, and jump high. However, Eiji claims it is extremely difficult to revert back to being just a single OOO so that he can cancel the transformation. This Combo's Scanning Charge finisher is the Gatakiriba Kick (ガタキリバキック, Gatakiriba Kikku), where after splitting into several duplicates, OOO jumps into the air and performs a series of flying sidekicks on the target.[6][7]
Latorartar Combo
Latorartar Combo (ラトラーターコンボ, Ratorātā Konbo) is Kamen Rider OOO's yellow combination, using the powers of Kazari's Core Medals: Lion, Tora, and Cheetah. As Latorartar Combo, OOO can emit light intense enough to incinerate, use the Tora Claws, and use his high speed movement to perform the Revol Spin Kick (リボルスピンキック, Riboru Supin Kikku). This Combo's Scanning Charge finisher is Liodias (ライオディアス, Raiodiasu), where he projects three yellow rings in front of him before charging through them with the Cheetah Medal's speed before delivering a cross slash on the target with the Tora Claws infused with the Lion Medal's energy projection.[8][6]
The name of this Combo has been variably written as "Latorartah" and "Latoratar"[6] in various print materials. The official TV Asahi website for the series, however, uses the name "Latorartar".
- By using the Lion, Tora, and Batta Medals, OOO transforms into Latoraba (ラトラバ, Ratoraba). As Latoraba, OOO can use the Lion Head's light-based powers along with the Tora Claws and the jumping abilities of the Batta Legs.[9][10]
- By using the Lion, Kamakiri, and Batta Medals, OOO transforms into Lakiriba (ラキリバ, Rakiriba). As Lakiriba, OOO can use the Lion Head's light-based powers along with the Kamakiri Swords and jumping abilities of the Batta Legs.[11][10] When its Scanning Charge is activated, OOO jumps up high with the Batta Legs and then blinds the target with the Lion Head to perform the finishing strike with the Kamakiri Swords.
Sagohzo Combo
Sagohzo Combo (サゴーゾコンボ, Sagōzo Konbo) is Kamen Rider OOO's grey combination, using the powers of Gamel's Core Medals: Sai, Gorilla, and Zou. As Sagohzo Combo, OOO can perform strong headbutts through the Sai Head, is armed with the Gori Bagoong (ゴリバゴーン, Gori Bagōn) gauntlets that can perform the Bagoong Pressure (バゴーンプレッシャー, Bagōn Puresshā) attack through the Gorilla Arms, and cause minor earthquakes with the Zou Legs. This Combo's Scanning Charge finisher is Sagohzo Kick (サゴーゾキック, Sagōzo Kikku), a drop kick that uses the heaviness of Sagohzo Combo to his advantage.[12][13]
Other Random Combos
In addition to the above Combos, the following Random Combos have been featured in various publications promoting OOO.

Equipment
OOO Driver
The OOO Driver (オーズドライバー, Ōzu Doraibā) is a belt that gives Eiji Hino the ability to become Kamen Rider OOO, originally the seal that kept the Greeed in their 800 year slumber. To transform into Kamen Rider OOO, Eiji inserts three Core Medals into the O Slater (オースレイター, Ō Sureitā), turning the O Slater on the Force Drive (フォースドライブ, Fōsu Doraibu), scanning the Core Medals with the O Scanner, and then holds the O Scanner up to his chest.[17]
O Scanner
The O Scanner (オースキャナー, Ōsukyanā) is a device that is able to read the energy found within O Medals. By using the O Scanner on a set of three Core Medals in the OOO Driver, it allows for the transformation into Kamen Rider OOO or one of his various Combos. By scanning the Core Medals in the OOO Driver, again, it initiates one of Kamen Rider OOO's finishing attacks known as Scanning Charges (スキャニングチャージ, Sukyaningu Chāji, designated as "Single", "Double", or "Triple"). The O Scanner can also be used on the Cell Medals in the Medajalibur to initiate its Scanning Charge, as well.[18]
O Medals
The O Medals (オーメダル, Ō Medaru) are mystical coins that are at the center of Kamen Rider OOO's powers. There are two different kinds of O Medals: the Core Medals and the Cell Medals.[19][20][21]
Core Medals
The colorful Core Medals (コアメダル, Koa Medaru) are the O Medals that allow Kamen Rider OOO to transform and change between his various Combos. These O Medals are intended to make up the cores of the Greeed, but Ankh stole several of them during their reawakening. Each Greeed has a specific color that their Core Medals come in. For example, Ankh's Taka Medal is red, while Uva's Medals are shades of green and Kazari's are shades of yellow. In the beginning, Ankh holds all of the Core Medals and gives them to Eiji when he wants him to fight as Kamen Rider OOO. Later, Ankh gives Eiji the Taka, Tora, and Batta Medals so he can defend himself when Ankh is not around. However, seeing Eiji's first use of the Latorartar Combo as reckless, Ankh takes the Core Medals back, stating he should have never given them to Eiji in the first place. [22]
- Head
- Taka Medal (タカメダル, Taka Medaru): The red Taka Medal allows Kamen Rider OOO to use the Taka Head (タカヘッド, Taka Heddo), allowing him to see far distances.[23]
- Kuwagata Medal (クワガタメダル, Kuwagata Medaru): The green Kuwagata Medal, obtained in a fight with Uva, allows Kamen Rider OOO to use the Kuwagata Head (クワガタヘッド, Kuwagata Heddo), allowing him to duplicate himself. Ankh later loses this medal to Uva after being lured into a trap.[24]
- Lion Medal (ライオンメダル, Raion Medaru): The yellow Lion Medal, given to Kamen Rider OOO within a cake from the Kougami Foundation, allows Kamen Rider OOO to use the Lion Head (ライオンヘッド, Raion Heddo), allowing him to emit intense light or heat.[25]
- Arms
- Tora Medal (トラメダル, Tora Medaru): The yellow Tora Medal, stolen from Kazari by Ankh, allows Kamen Rider OOO to use the Tora Arms (トラアーム, Tora Āmu), arming him with the Tora Claw (トラクロー, Tora Kurō) gauntlets. OOO steals a second one from Kazari in their fight as well.
- Kamakiri Medal (カマキリメダル, Kamakiri Medaru): The green Kamakiri Medal, stolen from Uva by Ankh, allows Kamen Rider OOO to use the Kamakiri Arms (カマキリアーム, Kamakiri Āmu), arming him with arm blades called the Kamakiri Swords (カマキリソード, Kamakiri Sōdo). Eiji loses the Medal to Kazari in their first fight, but he gets another one when fighting Uva.
- Legs
- Batta Medal (バッタメダル, Batta Medaru): The green Batta Medal, stolen from Uva by Ankh, allows Kamen Rider OOO to use the Batta Legs (バッタレッグ, Batta Reggu), allowing him to jump and kick with great strength. When used in a Scanning Charge, the legs become more grasshopper-like, allowing for Kamen Rider OOO to jump high in the air to perform a Rider Kick.
- Cheetah Medal (チーターメダル, Chītā Medaru): The yellow Cheetah Medal, taken from Kazari's body by OOO, allows OOO to use the Cheetah Legs (チーターレッグ, Chītā Reggu), allowing him to move at blurring speeds and perform a rapid barrage of kicks. Kamen Rider OOO acquires two Cheetah Medals from the fight with Kazari. Ankh later loses one of the medals to Uva after being lured into a trap.
- Others
- Unagi Medal (ウナギメダル, Unagi Medaru) & Tako Medal (タコメダル, Tako Medaru): Two copies each of these blue Core Medals are stolen from Mezool by Ankh after she is injured by the energy wave caused by Kamen Rider OOO's first transformation into Latoratar Combo.
Cell Medals
The silver Cell Medals (セルメダル, Seru Medaru) also come from the Greeed, but also make up the bodies of the Yummy. These Medals are a manifestation of human desire. While the Greeed were sealed away, the Kougami Foundation studied and gathered the Cell Medals, incorporating them in their Ride Vendor, Medajalibur, and Candroid technology. Unlike Core Medals, which can be used and reused without effect, Cell Medals release only a limited amount of energy before vanishing. While the Greeed appear to be physically made out of an amalgamation of Cell Medals in their first appearance, it is unclear how many Cell Medals actually make up a Greeed's body, as Ankh was able to make a payment of 100 to the Kougami Foundation, far more than his apparent size would contain.[26]
Medajalibur
The Medajalibur (メダジャリバー, Medajaribā) is a sword that serves as Kamen Rider OOO's main weapon, given to him by the Kougami Foundation as a "birthday present". By inserting three Cell Medals into the Medajalibur and scanning them with the O Scanner, it can be used to perform a slashing Triple Scanning Charge attack called the OOO Bash (オーズバッシュ, Ōzu Basshu).[27] The OOO Bash appears to slice through, not only the Yummy, but everything behind it, though anything other than the Yummy is restored afterwards. The name is a portmanteau of "medal" and Excalibur, the legendary sword from Arthurian myth.
Ride Vendor
The Ride Vendor (ライドベンダー, Raidobendā) is a modified Honda VT 750 C2B Shadow Black Spirit, mass-produced by the Kougami Foundation and provided to Kamen Rider OOO and Ankh for use whenever needed. It can transform from its Machine Vendor Mode (マシンベンダーモード, Mashin Bendā Mōdo), where it acts as a vending machine which holds the Candroids, to its Machine Bike Mode (マシンバイクモード, Mashin Baiku Mōdo), when a Cell Medal is inserted and touching the Multi TaS Sensor (マルチTaSセンサー, Maruchi Tasu Sensā, "Touch and Scan"). This transformation allows the Ride Vendor to remain hidden in plain sight as a vending machine until needed.[1][28][29][30] The Ride Vendor's transformation can also be controlled remotely, but this fact is hidden from Ankh and Eiji, as Kousei Kougami wants them to be dependent on his technology so he can collect Cell Medals from Kamen Rider OOO's fights.
Toride Vendor
By combining with the Tora Candroid, the Ride Vendor can become the Toride Vendor (トライドベンダー, Toraidobendā). As the Toride Vendor, its speed and power is increased and it can use claw-like attachments to release Medal shaped blasts of energy. But due to its feral nature, the Toride Vendor is only compatible with OOO while he is in his Latorartar Combo.[12][13][31]
Candroids
The Candroids (カンドロイド, Kandoroido) are special support robots that are held within the Ride Vendor. After inserting a Cell Medal into the Ride Vendor in its vending machine mode, a beverage can like device is "bought" from the machine. The Candroid is transformed from its Can Mode (カンモード, Kan Mōdo) into its Animal Mode (アニマルモード, Animaru Mōdo) through the pull-tab on top. Normally, a large number of them are deployed from the Ride Vendor, but only one needs to be manually activated, the others simply activating on their own afterwards.[1]
- The Taka Candroid (タカカンドロイド, Taka Kandoroido) can fly and primarily used by the Kougami Foundation to gather Medals or serve as a remote control recon that transmit images to a Kougami Foundation laptop.[32]
- The Tako Candroid (タコカンドロイド, Tako Kandoroido) is a flexible flyer that can join with fellow Tako Candroids to form various things like roads, bungee cords, or trampolines. On its own, a single Tako Candroid is able to defend itself by spraying ink at its attacker.[33]
- The Batta Candroid (バッタカンドロイド, Batta Kandoroido) is a new experimental Candroid that acts as a two-way transmitter. It is given to Eiji and Ankh to test for the Kougami Foundation as a sign of trust so they can join forces to gather Medals.[34]
- The Tora Candroid (トラカンドロイド, Tora Kandoroido) is a new Candroid created by Kiyoto Maki who personally gives it to Eiji. It can enlarge itself and combine with the Ride Vendor to become the Toride Vendor.[12][13][35]
