Tomato Salad (Italian: Insalata pomodoro or simply insalata; is a basic Italian salad, made of sliced tomatoes, Red onion, and basil, seasoned with salt, oregano and extra virgin olive oil, occasionally paired with chili pepper. It is a simple dish that is ubiquitous in Italy, most common in the summer months when tomatoes are most ripe. usually eaten from a bowl with a crusty Italian bread.
