Multivista Systems LLC is a construction documentation company, founded in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2003 by Luis Pascual, Wade Shaw, and Graham Twigg.[2] Pascual came up with the idea for Multivista while he was working as an electrical subcontractor, as he found it frustrating that there was no way to reference his completed work once it was covered.[3]
The company’s construction documentation services were initially focused on photo and video, but have since expanded to include 3D laser scanning, Building information modeling (BIM), and Artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, among others.[4]
In 2016, Multivista was acquired by Hexagon AB, a global provider of design, measurement, and visualization technologies.[1] Multivista has dozens of franchises around the world.[5][6]
Products and Services
360 Photo
Professional Multivista photographers use HDR-enabled 360 cameras to capture comprehensive interior and exterior views of a job site. These images are then mapped to interactive floor plans or exported to a third-party integration.
3D Laser Scanning, Scan to Plan, and Scan to BIM
Utilizing 3D laser scanning technology from Leica Geosystems, Multivista captures and digitizes as-built environments. Point cloud data can be turned into 2D as-built CAD drawings or 3D BIMs.
Photo and video documentation
Multivista captures high-resolution photography and high-definition video to be used for a number of purposes, including:
- Visualizing and documenting site conditions and progress
- Creating Owner Training Videos (OTV) about site-specific operations
- Marketing deliverables
- High-resolution 360° virtual walkthroughs
- Maintaining complete visual records of structures for disaster preparedness purposes
- Quality assurance
UAV documentation
Multivista's certified construction drone pilots and Visual Observers (VOs) capture photos, videos, and panoramas from multiple perspectives at varying elevations.
Webcam documentation
Multivista sets up custom webcam applications with 24/7 streaming video footage, hosts the live stream, and handles ongoing webcam maintenance.
Firestopping
Multivista captures and processes photos of exact-built above-ceiling conditions, leveraging AI technology to detect various unsealed penetration types.
Integrations
Multivista’s proprietary platform, Multivista Documentation Software (MDS), integrates with the following software:[7]
- Aconex
- AerieHub
- Autodesk (BIM 360 Docs, Navisworks, and Revit)
- Bluebeam Software, Inc.
- DroneDeploy
- e-Builder
- Matterport
- PlanGrid
- Procore
Notable projects
In 2018, Multivista worked with sister company Leica Geosystems, Matterport, and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to create an immersive online 3D model of Taliesin West.[8]
Beginning in 2020, Multivista helped the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) with their ambitious plans to grow and update their 6 campuses throughout the Metro Vancouver area by providing comprehensive visual documentation of their existing facilities. The project included capturing 56 buildings and documenting 3,000,000 square feet. It would be one of British Columbia’s largest-ever documentation projects.
