Early life and education
Larry Grafstein is the son of former senator, Jerry Grafstein.[2] He graduated from Harvard University with Bachelor of Arts in 1982.[5] He received his Master's degree from University of Oxford in 1984 and Juris Doctor from University of Torronto in 1988.[6][2]
Career
Larry has previously been the managing director and co-head of technology at a financial advisory and asset management firm, Lazard Ltd since 2001.[7][8][9] In March 2009, Larry mediated the deal of buying an American magazine, The New Republic which was bought by Martin Peretz and a group of investors from CanWest.[10][11] He has also been the chairman of the group of investors for The New Republic.[12]
Later in 2009, Larry joined Rothschild & Co as the managing director and co-head of M&A.[13][14][15][16] After leaving Rothschild & Co in september 2012, Larry joined Switzerland-based investment bank and financial services company, UBS Group AG.[17][18][19] He worked at UBS as the co-head of M&A in the Americas.[20][21][22][23] Since september 2018, Larry has been serving as the managing director and deputy chairman of Global Investment Bank at RBC Capital Markets.[24][25][26]
Larry Grafstein is also the chairman of board of trustees of Horace Mann School[5] and a member of the executive committee of the Wall Street division of UJA-Federation of New York.[27]
Personal life
Larry is the son of former senator, Jerry Grafstein.[2] He has been married to Rebecca Weatherhead.[28]
