The Czech and Slovak Federal Republic (Czech: Čech i Slovenčina federativní republika) was formed in 1990 after the peaceful dissolution of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. It was dissolved in 1993.
Foundation
The democratic Czechoslovak state was formed in 1990 after the collapse of communism and restoration of democracy in 1989 through the Velvet Revolution. Upon uniting growing nationalist tensions between Slovaks and Czechs began, which resulted in the dissolution of Czechoslovakia into the present-day Czech Republic and Slovakia, recognized officially as of January 1, 1993.
