Revision as of 23:04, 2 June 2015
Template:Infobox reality talent competition
Season ten of the reality competition series America's Got Talent premiered on May 26, 2015.[1] Nick Cannon returned as host for his seventh season. Howie Mandel returns for his sixth season as judge while Howard Stern returns for his fourth season. Mel B and Heidi Klum both return for their third season on the judging panel.[2]
This season, the show will be celebrating its tenth anniversary with a special two hour retrospective episode. America's Got Talent will return to Radio City Music Hall in New York for the live shows, which are scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 11.[3]
Dunkin Donuts will be the show's official sponsor this year with their cups prominently placed on the judges' desk, which will replace Snapple who sponsored the show since season 7.
Changes
On April 2, 2015 via a press release, America's Got Talent announced several changes for the upcoming tenth anniversary season of America's #1 summer show. Among the changes are an enhanced Golden Buzzer, bigger and more extreme acts, new elements in the boot camp round and a two hour series retrospective.
AGT brought the auditions outdoors this year to showcase some of the biggest and most dangerous acts. Similar to the acts in the theater, these auditions were filmed outdoors in the Fairplex in Pomona, California.[1]
The Golden Buzzer will also be enhanced this year with an act going straight through to the live shows should a judge hit the buzzer (the same format as that of Britain's Got Talent, rather than a free pass to boot camp in the previous season). Like last season, the Golden Buzzer can only be used once by each judge. Mandel was the first one whose use of the Golden Buzzer was aired, doing so on stuttering comedian Drew Lynch.[4]
The live shows are scheduled to begin Tuesday, Aug 11th and will return to Radio City Music Hall.[1]
The bootcamp round will be enhanced this year. Scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 14, each judge will receive a special advantage over the others in determining which acts become a part of the Top 36 to perform for America's vote. Unlike previous seasons, the live shows will only feature 36 acts instead of the normal 48. The bootcamp round will also last several weeks compared to just one week in previous seasons.[1] Celebrity guest judges will also be featured to assist the regular judges with their decision, including Neil Patrick Harris, Michael Buble and Marlon Wayans.[5] However, 12 acts that were eliminated during Boot Camp will be selected by the judges to come back to the live shows.
It was also announced on Tuesday that former judge Piers Morgan will return to the show this season as a judge. It is not known in what capacity he will return, but he is not replacing any of the current judges.[6]
A special two hour retrospective will air this season to celebrate the ten years of AGT. The show will feature the best acts of the series, the most heartwarming stories, the oddest personalities, and the biggest show-stopping moments from the last 10 years.[1]
