:: Concerning Billy's evolvement, here is a reference that states he will be a strong recurring character in the season >> http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/billy-eichner-american-horror-story-season-7-1202017831/ And why are Billy and Lourd not referenced at the top. Lourd is a lead, as are Paulson and Peters, so therefore that detail should be referenced in the charts(add the green cover). I understand Billy's mess up but maybe we should add him in the recurring section. But then again he could also be changed to a special guest star considering he has a big recurring slot. The upcoming cast is unnecessary just add them in the charts... [[User:Changeisgame|Changeisgame]] ([[User talk:Changeisgame|talk]]) 23:43, 12 April 2017 (UTC) |

Ok to link to a Wikia?
I know that we can't go into uber-depth about the characters on this page, but does anyone know if it's OK to link to a Wikia? I'm sort of dodgy on the policy on that, to be honest. In specific, I wanted to link to this Wikia: American Horror Story Wikia since it's so well laid out and so detailed. I've been using it to refresh my memory on some of the smaller character points, but I've tried to make the wording different. (There's only so many ways you can phrase some of the character info, though.) Tokyogirl79 (talk) 10:09, 29 November 2011 (UTC)tokyogirl79
- I'll let another Wikipedia rep answer about adding a link to it, but, about using Wikia to "refresh your memory," please be careful in doing so, as anything listed here (at Wiki) that is similar to other websites can be removed without warning. Sometimes it's best to write what you basically know for an article, check around for similar work here and online, then change anything similar in yours to prevent removal. For this character list, sometimes the best background work to do is to watch the episodes from the beginning and write about them — uber-depth and all. I refer you to another current TV show's character list: List of Dexter characters. I have yet to see any article be removed for too much information, although it is frowned upon. — WylieCoyote (talk) 20:34, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. I saw an external link to Wikia on another show, so I linked ours on the show's main page. I guess it's okay as long as our info is different. — WylieCoyote (talk) 02:59, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Vivien Harmon Character Page
I merged the info from her page into her character section here. If you see any more merging done and it disrupts the flow of THIS article, please remove it since it has been done by a "bot." Thanks. (P.S. Good luck in creating a future character page!) — WylieCoyote (talk) 02:34, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Opening character table...
...is now flawed. Kathy Bates has now been cast as a Season 3 co-star and deserves adding to the table, only she fails the standards set by the table's designer, according to the hidden editors' note. This is why you shouldn't put carts before horses and assume all actors will be re-cast and no others will join. Bates has been courted to be in the show since Season One. — Wyliepedia 07:07, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
Page split
As a major contributor from Day One, I'm going ahead and suggesting a page split at the end of Season 3. This article is borderline splitable anyway and Season 3's info, I'm sure, will push it over the edge. This page was created before we knew it would be a serial format with different characters each season and will become unwieldy in 2014. — Wyliepedia 07:23, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
Mother Superior Claudia
She was a supporting character in Season 2. I wish someone could add her into this page.
Marie and Queenie
Shouldn't Marie and Queenie not be bolded on the character table, as they were supporting characters? I've asked here in case there was a discussion regarding it already, instead of just changing it.--SnowyNight1234 (talk) 18:23, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
-- I agree. They were both main characters, and the introduction on the page implies they are both main characters. So was Nan, in fact. Changing it now. --Stevehim (talk) 06:49, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Orphaned references in List of American Horror Story characters
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of American Horror Story characters's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

How do we treat Bette and Dot Tattler?
They are technically one character that happens to have two heads considering that we have one article for Abigail and Brittany Hensel who have almost the exact same condition as the characters on this show, I honestly think we should treat them as one character completely.--Jack Cox (talk) 23:35, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
- Correction: they are technically two characters that happen to have one body. Hence, why they are able to talk to each other.Cebr1979 (talk) 09:01, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
Jamie Brewer
Why was Jamie Brewer, who played Adelaide Langdon, Nan and an unknown role in Season 4, removied from the cast table??? Poroboros (talk) 15:53, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
Order of characters
Is there any method to this? Some of the sections seem strange (eg - Jessica Lange being toward the middle/bottom of Coven, when she was as main a character as anyone in the show). --Stevehim (talk) 06:58, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
It's time to make Pepper a supporting character instead of a minor character
after tonight's episode, it's pretty obvious she belongs there. Distortiondude (talk) 05:40, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Plan to remove the lead/supporting/minor character bolding and italics
I plan on removing all of this if nobody has a problem with it. It's really not necessary to list what each individual role was and it only causes edit wars back and forth every day. I'm not removing the tables, just the bolding and italics thing we have going on. Objections? Gloss 17:04, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
Why isn't Pepper featured in the Freak Show character list?
I noticed that Pepper is only featured on the Asylum character list, while on the the Freak Show list she is not there. She is a character of both seasons, with different (but connected) stories, so which is why I think she should be featured in both seasons character lists. --GleekRicky98a (talk) 00:14, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Cast members section
I've noticed that I've received some pushback to the changes I've been making in this department, but I think many of them are unwarranted. A few editors have reverted my reordering of the cast members by who appeared first, and have instead opted for who has appeared the most. For instance, since she was the first person to appear in the credits, MOS:TVCAST dictates that Connie Britton should be the first person listed here, and yet she isn't found for 13 places. As far as I can tell, the "Cast and characters" section on The Walking Dead has it down perfectly: first to appear in opening credits, then those who appeared as recurring characters who later became main characters. I have made a mock-up version of what the cast list will look like (with assumed Hotel cast members that I will happily remove if implemented) that you can find here: User:Sock/American Horror Story cast. Sock (tock talk) 17:27, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- I understand that for most TV series that would work perfectly. However, since American Horror Story is an anthology series, it is best to keep the actors who have appeared the most at the top of the list as they are most prominent to the series. Also, since most of the actors have played multiple roles throughout the series, it is best to keep the character roles in the table as well. I think that your set-up will work if American Horror Story continues on for many more years Nd the table becomes too cluttered with all of the names. However, at this point in time, the current set-up is perfectly fine. Thank you so much for contributions! User:Kworbi —Preceding undated comment added 04:36, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Moira O'Hara
This may be a silly suggestion, but shouldn't the table clearly state that Frances Conroy plays Old Moira and Alexandra Breckenridge plays Young Moira? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.237.138 (talk) 17:29, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
This article is far too long
Please split This is at browser-breaking length. It's sensible to split it into lists by season and make this a disambiguation page. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 07:17, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- I believe it is fine the way it is, but am open to splitting. Characters have their section linked on the seasons page and when clicked it jumps straight to that character. I don't see the harm in going through and removing trivial information that is of no use to the page and see if that cuts it down a bit Brocicle (talk) 04:11, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
- Would be a lot of work, but I do agree with a split. This is only going to get longer as more characters are introduced to a series with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Gloss 18:47, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- So are we going ahead with the spilt? More than happy to get the ball rolling if so. Brocicle (talk) 01:48, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- With a sixth and a possible seventh season confirmed, I agree that a split is necessary. If not split then a huge toning down of the character descriptions. They are sometimes too In-universe and not a general description. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 15:34, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
- Seeing as majority is in favour of splitting I went ahead and created the first season's character article. Please modify where necessary and and begin on the remaining seasons and turn this page into a disambiguation page. Brocicle (talk) 02:52, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

- I don't think this should completely be a disambiguation page, for the sections on characters who reappear in different seasons, and definitely the chart of actors who have been on the show are helpful, given that those sections are where the series overlap. But I think as long as those key sections remain, the rest can just be links to the individual pages.ThomasM123 (talk) 20:33, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

There have been no character names confirmed for season 6, can people please stop adding them in. Leaked callsheets and fan rumours are NOT reputable sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by YellowingMellowing (talk • contribs) 21:22, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

This page should be locked.
There are far to many people adding fake information about the names of characters. They have been warned twice and continue to do so. I don't know if this should result in a block, but the page needs to be locked, so wishful thinkers can not spew their inner most fandom thoughts as facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.51.129.222 (talk) 21:00, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

Notes on characters in more than one season
So where it lists the main characters, it just has a short bulleted list of the characters in that season, but I was thinking what if we added notes to the characters in more than one season, so the Murder House section would look like:
Main characters
- Vivien Harmon (Connie Britton)
- Ben Harmon (Dylan McDermott)
- Tate Langdon (Evan Peters)
- Violet Harmon (Taissa Farmiga)
- Larry Harvey (Denis O'Hare)
- Constance Langdon (Jessica Lange)
Special guest stars
- Hayden McClaine (Kate Mara)
- Chad Warwick (Zachary Quinto)
- Det. Granger (Charles S. Dutton)
- Derek (Eric Stonestreet)
Other
- Billie Dean Howard (Sarah Paulson) later appeared in Hotel.
- Dr. Charles Montgomery (Matt Ross) later appeared in Hotel.
- Marcy (Christine Estabrook) later appeared in Hotel.
For Asylum it would be:
Main characters
- Dr. Oliver Thredson (Zachary Quinto)
- Monsignor Timothy Howard (Joseph Fiennes)
- Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson) later appeared in Roanoke.
- Kit Walker (Evan Peters)
- Sister Mary Eunice McKee (Lily Rabe) later appeared in Freak Show.
- Grace Bertrand (Lizzie Brocheré)
- Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell) later appeard in Freak Show (as Hans Gruber).
- Sister Jude Martin (Jessica Lange)
Special guest stars
- Shelley (Chloë Sevigny)
- Leigh Emerson (Ian McShane)
Other
- Pepper (Naomi Grossman) later appeared in Freak Show.
And lastly for Coven it would be:
Main characters
- Cordelia Foxx (Sarah Paulson)
- Zoe Benson (Taissa Farmiga)
- Myrtle Snow (Frances Conroy)
- Kyle Spencer (Evan Peters)
- Misty Day (Lily Rabe)
- Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts)
- Spalding (Denis O'Hare)
- Delphine LaLaurie (Kathy Bates)
- Fiona Goode (Jessica Lange)
Special guest stars
- Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett)
- Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe) later appeared in Hotel.
- The Axeman (Danny Huston)
- Joan Ramsey (Patti LuPone)
- Stevie Nicks (Stevie Nicks)
Warning of 2017
While checking the character page I noticed the table had a section added for 2017 claiming the title Ship Wrecked and already giving Lady Gaga a role as Siren. After even the LIGHTEST of searches can confirm coupled with the lack of citation there is no fact that this information is valid. So be warned that anything posted for 2017 is at best speculative and at worst an out right lie.
I agree with the previous discussion that the page should be locked to prevent the spread of misinformation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.69.55.254 (talk) 08:35, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
- On at least two separate occasions, information has been added to this article that identifies Season 7's subtitle as "Hollywood," and provides complete character lists. As far as I can tell, this information is invented; I can find no reliable source or even non-reliable corroboration. I am not quite expert enough in wikitables to delete all this unsourced info, so I changed unsourced character names in the tables to "TBA." If anyone is able to fully delete the entries, I'd appreciate it. I did delete the Season 7 section, though. I should probably try to go back and find the sourced cast list, if there ever was one. Or anyone else should feel free to do this. --DavidK93 (talk) 15:01, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Billie Lourd / Billy Eichner
Billie Lourd is a main cast member, I've added her, but Billy Eichner's role size has NOT been revealed. He could be a recurring character or a special guest star so please do not add him yet.
