Song |
"Billionaire" is the debut lead single from Travie McCoy's first solo album Lazarus. The song was produced by The Smeezingtons which consists of Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine. Lyrically, McCoy imagines what would happen if he became a billionaire, referencing a desire to be on the cover of Forbes Magazine, 'smiling next to Oprah and The Queen'.[4]
Remix
The song's remix leaked onto the Internet on June 14, 2010.[5] It features Bruno Mars, T-Pain, and Gucci Mane.
Music video
The music video was filmed in Los Angeles, California and debuted May 6th on MtvU. It shows Travie driving a Mini Cooper, and helping four people, as well as one large group. The first is giving a guy a new skateboard, the second was buying an unknown, aspiring artist's CD, the third was a teenager trying to hitchhike to New York and when he got out of the car he gave his keys giving away the Mini Cooper, and the fourth giving a graffiti artist some spray paint. The second location was Venice Beach where the group in question ran dry on beer, and in come Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars, handing out beers to restore life to the party. Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz can also be seen in the music video riding on the back of a scooter with Travis McCoy.
