- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALL. This category contains only one article. The only article is already in the parent category Category:Currencies of Africa so no need to Upmerge. Asmodea Oaktree (talk) 21:44, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Keep The category should be more specific. It should not be deleted, for it contains single article. The article under this category, Marchuwa (currency), which is used by the Kingdom of Damot as well as Kingdom of Wolayita (that's why it is under the category Category:Currencies of the Kingdom of Wolaita, though the discussion is archived). Yes, its parent category is Category:Currencies of Africa, for Wolayita and other Kingdoms that used Marchuwa as a currency were African. But we should not forget the subcategory more specifies the article. There were plenty number of Empires and Kingdoms under the Africa continent, even in Ethiopia, but there are very little pages in the Wikipedia. It needs more attention. Keep, keep and keep. Yitbe A-21 09:30, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- Delete The currency in question is categorized enough as a medieval currency. We have little on Damot, but the way to solve this problem is not to create categories that group nothing, but to do more research to find more information. There is no justification for having a category of 1 item, it groups nothing.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:02, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Panamanian medical doctors to Category:Panamanian physicians
- Nominator's rationale: To match all the other American categories. "medical doctors" is used for British and related categories, of which Panama is not one. Rathfelder (talk) 21:06, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose As I have said consistently, in American English usage this is the proper common name, well unless you want us to go to making this Category:Panamanian doctors (medical), which might be a bit closer to the common usage, where they are normally just called doctors but we need some disambiguation, but I think most people would agree that that is just an ugly looking and needlessly long way to do it. Either way that is the common name that we should use.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:04, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- Support — JPL has been consistently wrong. For goodness sake, the parent is Category:Physicians by nationality. Yes, lazy Americans often call anybody in the medical field "doctors". Or anybody with a PhD "doctor". But nobody calls them "medical doctor".
William Allen Simpson (talk) 22:23, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- Your statement here is needless rude, provocative, and just plain wrong. It is not a sign of "laziness" to call people doctors, that is the common usage in the United States. People do say medical docotr. My search for the term, in quotes on google with in America added on without quotes produced over 5 million results. Here is one of the early ones [1]. How this compares with the level of the use of the term physician is harder to analize, but your claim that no one says medical doctor is just plain false.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:06, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- The wording "call" and "calls" refer to using the term in everyday spoken conversation. JPL points to an online salary discussion, where MD may well be used to distinguish from DO, JD, LLD, PhD, etc. Wikipedia's policy is WP:COMMONNAME. Presumably, we are not explicitly excluding DO. Moreover, we are not specifically including psychiatrists, who are also MD.
William Allen Simpson (talk) 12:06, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- I am a bit lost in the abbreviations. What is DO, JD and LLD? Marcocapelle (talk) 13:29, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- MD=Medical Doctor which redirects to Physician. DO=Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, although nowadays it means training as a general practitioner or family doctor instead of a specialist residency. JD=Juris Doctor (lawyer). LLD=Legum Doctor (usually, professor of law, although many law professors do not have either LLM or LLD).

- Comment I still think these are OPINIONCATs and ought to be deleted. Among the issues presented is at what point deniers deny. Presumably, by pleading not guilty in various trials, all issues including whether the genocide took place, whether it was a genocide even if it did, etc., are all denied by the defendants and thus put in issue. Some people are, no doubt, notable for belonging to groups espousing denial of these events, and are better categorized there than here; and these need to be purged of people who are perpetrators (also better categorized elsewhere). This is also a test case, as there are a lot of album location categories. Clarityfiend (talk) 00:10, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I clicked on several of these and, in general, it's mentioned in the infobox and nowhere else. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:48, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Delete I completely agree that where an album was recorded is a non-defining aspect of the album. I believe the creation of this category was how the scheme developed in the first place. Worth noting in the article when properly sourced, but not just because an album was recorded at such-and-such a location. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:58, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Comment - normally in this circumstance I'd say listify. Certainly Wikipedia could do with one or the other, either list or category, and IMO a list is the more obvious thing to have. I think this nomination and the one at AFD are confounding each other. Grutness...wha? 02:57, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Delete - this is almost a textbook case of NOTDEFINING, in my view Spiderone 19:33, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose b/c the sound engineering personalities & machines and therefor the chosen studio is clearly defining for an album's quality! I'm a member of WikiProject Record Labels. --Just N. (talk) 19:29, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- Delete in this Instance If there is a unique personality from this studio, it doesn't seem to be conveyed in the articles. I don't assume every recording studio is non-defining as some had distinct sounds or genres but this one seems like a general purpose rental. - RevelationDirect (talk) 23:03, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
