Wikidata question
Hi Andy! Not a bridge this time but a tunnel! I'm drafting an article on Watford Tunnel(s) as part of a little project working my way up the London and Birmingham Railway. But what do I do about connecting it to Wikidata when I move it to mainspace? Wikidata currently has d:Q26394274, which is the south entrance to the original tunnel (which is a listed building) but no entry as far as I can see for the whole tunnel, never mind the pair. Should I connect the article to that, or create another item, or do something else? Is there a way to cross-reference Wikidata items to show that they're two parts of the same thing? Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:00, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- Carte a new item, and add a statement "has part(s) (P527) = [tunnel mouth item]". Better still, one item for the pair, and one for each tunnel, also using "has part(s)" to link them. LMK when done if you'd like me to check (or just for my interest, please). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:07, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- That could work. Thanks. Can't say I have the deep familiarity with or interest in Wikidata that you do (no disrespect; not knocking it, just not my thing) but I'll do my best. Might wait til the article is ready though. Cheers Andy! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:11, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- I'm happy to do it for you, or walk you through the process. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:57, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- Article now at Watford Tunnels and connected to d:Q124407150. Help me out with coordinates? What point do I take for two tunnels with a combined four portals? I'm sure the Wikidata item could be improved as well. Thanks, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:51, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Nice article. I've added coordinates (to Wikidata and the article) for the centre of the old tunnel. we inevitably have to make an arbitrary decision, but at least that lets people find them on a map. When I have time, I'll make items for each tunnel individually. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:29, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- Now at Watford West Tunnel (Q124414230) & Watford East Tunnel (Q124414239). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:01, 2 February 2024 (UTC)

Talk Page Content Removal
I changed the heading of the collapsed discussion at the Help Desk. The original poster had not been aware that the matter was being discussed at the talk page guidelines talk page, so that the question at the Help Desk was not forum shopping, only a different forum.
