Notability of Nathan Mellott
A tag has been placed on Nathan Mellott, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dancter 03:01, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Are you Nathan Mellott?
Are you Nathan Mellott? We should be sure, since you uploaded several of his paintings under a free-content license claiming to be him. You may answer here or on my talk page. Cheers, ➪HiDrNick! 03:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- And if you are Nathan, then who is User:N.mellott? And if you aren't Nathan, then all his pictures that you have uploaded will have to be deleted as the copyright is his. --Steve (Stephen) talk 03:10, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Regardless of whether or not you are Nathan Mellot, I have reverted all your additions of paintings by Mellot to illustrate various articles. They are quite simply used to promote his work and this is not acceptable. Pascal.Tesson 03:13, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Image tagging
It is very important that you give the correct copyright information for any images you upload, those you've uploaded so far you have tagged as PD or GFDL. It has been reported that the artist who owns the copyright on these images has been contacted and stated that they have not authorised such a release. If you take a photo, scan etc. of someone elses work they still retain the copyright and you are not permitted to release it under such licenses.
We do take this very seriously and any future problems are likely to lead to this account being blocked from further contribution.
If you are the artist in question then please submit a formal record of the permissions to the wikimedia foundation, let me know if you need the details on how. --pgk 20:20, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
