Compassionate Care Act of 2015 in Texas Discriminates Against Veterans

On June 1, 2015 the Compassionate Care Act of 2015 was signed into effect by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. This Act states the following:

       Sec. 169.001.  DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
             (1)  “Department” means the Department of Public
             (2)  “Intractable epilepsy” means a seizure disorder in
which the patient’s seizures have been treated by two or more
appropriately chosen and maximally titrated antiepileptic drugs
that have failed to control the seizures.

National Second Opinion Day 4/20/16 – All Veterans Ask VA for Second Opinion

There are NOT many Veterans who have complete trust and faith in their primary care physicians at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. For that there are many reasons:

Most doctors already have the diagnosis figured out and the first line of treatment of a physical condition is with pharmaceuticals (complete list of over 1,500 pharmaceuticals the VA uses is here) and rarely offer alternative treatments such as Yoga, Acupuncture, Aqua-therapy and Chiropractic care through Pain Management and Rehabilitation clinics in each VA.
