WikiProject IRC
Hello and welcome to WikiProject IRC, a collaboration area and open group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of Internet Relay Chat (IRC).
The idea for this project came from a suggestion for a WikiProject on the Internet Relay Chat talk page.
For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.
Project Scope
This project aims to organize, expand, and improve Wikipedia's coverage of Internet Relay Chat. It is expected that this project will have some overlap with other projects that cover topics such as online chat, online social networking, internet culture, etc and we look forward to collaborating with other WikiProjects on overlapping topics.

To Do List
- Create and expand the Glossary and Comparison list articles
- Sort out the deleted articles from the mass {{prod}} of nearly all the articles that were in the Internet Relay Chat networks category that took place from about May 29, 2008 to June 4, 2008. Extensive digging has uncovered a very short discussion related to this in the COI Archive. [1]
- Sort out viable material from the red links that were removed from the various IRC templates.
- Write new articles for some of the red links that were removed from the navigation templates.
- Reevaluate "IRC" -> "Internet Relay Chat" bulk rename discussion from June 11, 2008 to June 21, 2008 as found in the CfD Archive [2]
Rename seems to have caused more long-term problems than it solved for maintenance of both articles and categories on en.wiki, and especially for interwikis, of which most all continue to use "IRC".
